I don't know why this is happening, but I have a laptop running LinuxMint assigned to A@H. I have discovered that the tasks are set to a Very Low process priority. As a result, BOINC keeps seeing a Suspended: CPU usage > state stopping and starting the Task. When it was running WCG tasks on the laptop, this never happened.

I can do a sudo renice -10 -p 1918, but that only effects that one process 1918 (that one task).

I think there is a way to set the process name to a -10 setting so as a new task is started with a new pid number, the process name (which remains the same) will kick in and give the process a higher priority.

My problem is I need some help. If I haven't made a mistake setting up my account, then what is the command to redefine the priority to the process name? ionice? If so, what is the command line? I tried ionice -c 2 -n 0 <process name>, but got a rejection because the <process name> was not a filename. Obviously, I am missing something in my reading of your Project.

Thanks,
Gandalf

It is simpler to simply run one CPU project at a time on a given system.

As I said. I assigned the laptop to run A@H tasks. That is one CPU project at a time.

FYI - I have five computers running various crunching projects.

The message you quoted is to do with non-BOINC CPU usage. Check you local client prefs. It's probably set to something like 50%. To turn it off set it to zero, then BOINC won't care what else is using the CPU.

Where do I find this local client prefs?

I found ...
Suspend work when non-BOINC CPU usage is above
0 means no restriction
Enforced by version 6.10.30+

Is that what you mean?

You will find it in your BOINC manager. You propably looked to project setting on web but if you set something in you BOINC manager it has higher priority than the project settings. So you propably have something there alreday set otherwise the project setting would work according to you wish.

The only thing I can find with respect to the Boinc Manager is the BOINC - Preferences > exclusive application tab.

Suspend processor and network usage when these applications are running:

The window is empty. I have never entered anything into this option in any of my computers/Projects.

If this is not what you are referring to, please be more specific as to where I should look to find this option within the Boinc Manager.

Thanks.

I checked it why you don't have it there, you have simplified view of BOINC manager and there are ligh preferences. Choose advanced view and then in preferences there will be the option about usage of processor and more settings.

I always use the Advanced View. Next suggestion?

I am afraid not, it is strange you don't have it there but I can see that you use BOINC 7.0.62 which is not official version to use. Maybe there is the problem. I can also check it but tommorow, I don't have installed this version anywhere.

I have it installed on five computers with three Projects. WCG, Einstein, and A@H. Yours is the only one I am having problems with. I had the same laptop running LinuxMint for WCG and had no problems.

Airgo, it must be YOU! {:~)

P.S. - I am looking forward to getting some Validations completed so your Project will show up on my Signature's BOINC STATS image

That's the one. Is it set to zero?
