This is what my event log is saying:

8/27/2013 3:26:23 PM | Asteroids@home | update requested by user
8/27/2013 3:26:23 PM | Asteroids@home | Sending scheduler request: Requested by user.
8/27/2013 3:26:23 PM | Asteroids@home | Not requesting tasks: don't need

I'm not sure what's going on, I def need work, I have no WU's running at all, and the last time I checked, there were WU's available for download. I've run maybe 1 or 2, and it's downloading them and processing them on my android phone, but not my computer.

Android devices aren't so fast so your BOINC client decided not to request new work till the current WU is finished.

ahhh ok. I think I'm going to detach from asteroids on the phone, and just stick to doing them on my computer.

whats weird tho, I'm running einsten@home on the phone and the computer, and it's not having that issue.

Ok, I've been messing around with this the past week, and I'm still having issues. The server status is showing plenty of work, I have all my settings set so that asteroids is by far getting the most resource share, and yet I'm still not getting any work for the past several days. I finally was able to get a couple to download after I made this post previously, those ran through, but then nothing new came along, it's still saying not requesting tasks, don't need.

I have the resource share set at 100, while everything else is set at 50. Is this correct?

I used BOINC a few years ago fairly extensively, and then my computer died, and it was awhile until I was able to get a new one of my own again. So I'm just now finally getting set back up with this, and I realize that I've forgotten quite a bit, and there is quite a bit of new stuff that I need to learn.

I'm just wondering why I'm not getting new work units. Should I detach from all other projects and just run asteroids? I'd like to stick with Seti for sure, and asteroids for sure. the rest I'm not dead set on keeping, if I don't have to. The only reason for Seti, is because I've been crunching for them since Jan. of 2002.

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe einstein@home tasks take a lot less time than asteroids tasks so the phone keeps an extra one on hand?

The part of BOINC that decides what tasks to download and when is called the scheduler. It seems to do a lot of weird things sometimes but all you can do is let it do its thing. As long as the phone/computer isn't sitting idle and tasks are being returned before the deadline then learn to live with the scheduler's weirdness. The other alternative is to try to do all the scheduling manually and I think you'll find you won't like that option.

BTW, the scheduler used to work better, they say, before it had to deal with GPUs. They say it's gone downhill since then. I dunno, as long as it's getting work and returning it on time I don't worry much about it.

Regarding your other post about the scheduler not downloading Asteroids work... in the old days the scheduler attempted to keep one task from each of your projects in the cache, if possible. That caused problems so that strategy was abandoned. More recent versions of the scheduler want to crunch lots of one project for a while then ignore that one and concentrate on one of your other projects. I'm not saying that's the best way to do it, just saying that seems to be the way recent versions of the scheduler work.
