This may be limited to me, but since Asteroids@home went to sse3, I've seen a lot more Invalid Tasks. I think I had 1 for the first 10,000 completed tasks. Now I've got 20 with just over 14,000 completed tasks. BIG jump. I don't overclock. I have 3 computers participating. Two have i7-3770 CPUs @ 3.4 Ghz - and they are the two getting the errors - while the third is an i5 machine and it hasn't had an error (mind you, it doesn't process nearly as many tasks). Any explanations for this? |

Sure... thanks for looking at this. The full list should be seen here: http://asteroidsathome.net/boinc/results.php?userid=21117&offset=0&show_names=0&state=5&appid= You might notice that, of the 20 Invalids, 11 were for work units sent on 8/21. What I don't understand are these: http://asteroidsathome.net/boinc/workunit.php?wuid=5112024 Seven tasks were flagged with a Validate Error; one is inconclusive and another is In Progress. How do you know the 7 are invalid just on the face of them? I thought the system looked for matching results. http://asteroidsathome.net/boinc/workunit.php?wuid=4811085 Similar: Six Validate Error, one inconclusive and another In Progress. http://asteroidsathome.net/boinc/workunit.php?wuid=5223708 This is Five Validate Error, one inconclusive and another In Progress. The older ones seem to tie out OK. I still don't understand how a completely unadulterated system churns out invalid results but I probably don't even care that much. |

I will have a look at these results. It may be problem like here: http://asteroidsathome.net/boinc/forum_thread.php?id=186 It that case that was a bad value (not a number). Validator checks in two stages. In case that someone sends empty results or there are some problems with computation it first checks structure of the file. If the structure is bad it is immediately mark as inconclusive. If the structure is good it continues validation with comparising results. |
