28.07.2014 is July 28th
Most of the server is down now. Did you mean June 28th (28.06.2014)?

Just one information. I sent the results of two files when the maintenance was already started since I did not read the homepage with the relevant information. Will I lose the credits for those files or they will be granted when the server will work again?

Result upload is often not affected by the maintenance but if it worked, the data are available for the validator (if not, the BOINC client will retry the upload later).

As long as the scheduler accepted the reporting of the results, they will be counted. If the scheduler has not been running anymore when you tried to report, your BOINC client will retry that and it will succeed, as soon as the scheduler is back.

So no, you will not lose anything and yes, credits will be granted later.

59+ hours now. Close to 2x the initial estimate of 30 hours. Any updates?

Yeah, I saw the maintenance announcement Friday night about it being scheduled to occur on July 28th; at the time I thought it was a little strange to announce a month ahead of time, but better than a day or so! Had I known it really was to begin a day later, I'd have increased my buffers a little. Too late now. :(

Look at the time the announcement was posted:

And the maintenance started at 13:00 UTC on 28 Jun 2014. Thus it did begin a little over 20 minutes after it was announced.

Hopefully it is just going slower then expected and not a major problem and they are down for weeks. Too many projects to be concerned about a few days.

Okay - my mistake, I must've seen it earlier on Saturday. Regardless, it was originally posted as beginning a month later, so it was still too late to change buffers. :/

Front page now says hopefully midnight, so he is monitoring it. What I did was go in and set a project to zero percent, meaning it will NEVER run unless Asteroids is out of work AND it will not get any more work then can run immediately. It gets one unit and then returns one unit, or in my case get 5 units, crunches those 5, returns them and gets 5 more. As time goes on though each unit is slightly variable in how long it takes, I am doing Malaria, so it goes back to 1 unit at a time. The zero percent number means that as soon as Asteroids is back up and running I will get units from it, filling my cache if possible, and then Boinc will handle the deadlines of the two projects for me.

To be fair, although there was only 20 minutes notice (probably due to impending catastrophic failure) the web pages and message boards are still up and running, so we haven't been left in the dark like some projects that just totally disappear.

Cheers,

Al.

Midnight comment on front page was posted 6/28/14. Hopefully the problems aren't dramatic. Would be good to have some informative updates ...

Yea I hope it'll be back up soon too, I've got 36 results rdy for u/l which expire 2/7/14 18.34! And then a load more for 3/7/.
They were finished yesterday/day before & were only crunched late because I started another project & BOINC shunted the remaining WUs back. Fortunately I'd already stopped A@H from getting new WUs (stopping A@H for a couple of months or so to crunch R@H).

Hallo,
"Communication delays by 3:15:16", says Boing for Asteroids@home.
If the server is still off? When it goes on.
I'm not impatient, just want to know when it goes on.
Greetings and a nice week
Rudi

Well, maintenance has been expected to end around midnight. Nobody said sth about a date ;) To get credits or not is of secondary interest. It just would be too bad about wasted energy if results would not be accepted after the deadline runs out (July, 6th in my case) :(

I have hundreds of results to upload. ;)

I've switch to Enigma@Home for the time being, but will switch back when the project comes back online.
