Is it just me, or is the website running really slow? Every page I try to open on Asteroids@home takes 1 to 5 minutes to load (that's no exageration). Every other website I go to opens immediately.

No, the same for everyone. Server is at his limits, but in the last weeks at least stable.
Project is driven by only three persons, so the headroom for improvements is between limited an not existent, but the project works and produces real results.

If every single cruncher on the project is checking in every five minutes in response to server requests (http://asteroidsathome.net/boinc/forum_thread.php?id=370), A@H's network's bound to be under a strain.

As I know our database is constantly overloaded. Kyong is planing second server for mysql db, but this may take a time (and money).

Stay tuned and happy crunching

The "database is constantly overloaded" because someone enabled wrong Setting on the server:

09-Oct-2014 13:46:35 [Asteroids@home] Sending scheduler request: Requested by project.

I think it is this in red:

<scheduler_reply>
<scheduler_version>705</scheduler_version>
<master_url>http://asteroidsathome.net/boinc/</master_url>
<request_delay>7.000000</request_delay>

<next_rpc_delay>300.000000</next_rpc_delay>
<userid>1650</userid>

BilGb is right, the server configuration is wrong!

09.10.2014 23:01:17 | Asteroids@home | Sending scheduler request: Requested by project.

And so on...

When BOINC sometimes gets through, it does get WUs. I am crunching for A@H right at the moment.

Please correct your servers' settings!
You're causing totally unneccessary traffic which gets your server down!

Seems to have fixed the issue. Thanks Kyong!

And special thanks from me to BilGb for finding the cause!

Finally, the nightmare of constant requests is over! Hopefully now the server can catch up on its work generating. Looks like it dropped down quite a bit.

I had to turn off the website. I was transferring database to a new server. I am sorry that I didn't write any notice about that but I really didn't know when I had time to do the transferring and I didn't want to let it wait till I would know in advance.

No problem, I just wanted to point to a possible upcoming fault.
