Switching to the discussion of, is SETI's search method good or bad, let me ask all of You a question.
All of us know hydrogen seems to be the most common element in the known (baryonic) universe; there are still many things unknown to us (specially me) meaning that perhaps still have to discover unkonwn natural processes/objects/stars/pulsars or whatever.
The use of the vibration of the most common element may be seen by someone as aliens, though it can be the result of an unkown process we still have to discover (i.e.: what happened at the beginning with pulsars, the first of them named LGM).
Wouldn't it be better to search for more rare elements?
I have in mind elements as plutonium, uranium or the kind; elements not easily found in nature and that in most cases their existence in enough quantities together requires the existence of advanced technology. If I'm right, there are satellites (military) which search for possible nuclear explosions out in space (IIRC the serendipity which lead to discover the GRB's). Can a nuclear explosion be detected in long distances? Any way to make plutonium/uranium or so atoms vibrate the way of the hydrogen atoms?

The vibration of the atoms is something I mentioned and I must confess I didn't use the correct term. What I meant is the absortion-emission frequencies, as BilBg pointed out. Atoms absorb EMR (electromagnetic radiation) in particular light at frequencies characteristic to each element. They also emit said absorbed energy at frequencies characteristic to each element. Thus hydrogen has its own absorption-emission frequencies or spectra, carbon has its own, and so on for each and every element. The absorption-emission spectra are like a fingerprint and can be used to detect the presence of a given element. You cannot change the frequencies of one element to the frequencies of another element.

The thing that led to the discovery of these absorption-emission frequencies is that we noticed when heated each element emits a different color of light. Therefore if you're an alien who doesn't sense light then you probably know nothing of those spectra. In fact your entire concept of what matter is may be totally different than what our atomic-molecular theory says it is. The SETIs use the hydrogen absorption-emisssion frequencies plus some arbitrary multiplier to arrive at the radio frequency(s) at which they listen. (roll-eyes)

It used to be an option but recently I've come to the realization that I neither like sex nor do I have the time for it. I like cumming, that's all, just cumming. The sex part and all the lies, cash in lieu of lies and scheduling required to obtain it just isn't worth it. And my hips and heart can't take the violent thrusting anymore. Most important is the fact that with so many morons crunching SETI I feel I just don't have the time for sex anymore. Seems like a woman expects a minimum 30 minutes whereas I can get me off in 10 and then have 20 to spend debunking SETI zombies in order that they might crunch useful projects once more.

Opinions or no, Dagorath does not need to berate, insult, call names, whatever just to get his point across. I don't care what his 'opinion' is about SETI or anything for that matter. His words are venom, spewed out because he is a coward and cannot face people in real life with the attitude he has. So, he takes it out on people like me that ask a simple question or Jim who responds to him in my absence. Yes, I know, I have not been around for some time. With cowards like Dagorath berating and insulting me even when I am not here, can you blame me? Now he starts in on someone else.
