Hi i just moved here since seti@home is no more,

My setup is:

windows 7 starter
boinc version: 7.14.2.0
eFMer boinctasks: 1.7.8.0
Lunatics_Win32_v0.44

everything is still set for when i used seti@home,
i just added the asteroids@home to the boinc projects.
i completed a couple tasks already, but they were slow to finish.

i downloaded a bunch of tasks to do (19 of them),
they each say time left: 05:51 min at first before i start them.
i just completed 2 that took almost 13 hours to complete,
but at first they said the same 05:51 min

My current settings (i had set for seti@home) do not seem to work here.
i downloaded more tasks then im able to complete.
or rather My current settings downloaded more,
the deadline will come before i finish them all.
and i will have to abort about half of them.

i have not changed any aspects of my settings since seti@home.
but should i change something ????
(i dont know, i am not familiar with boinc and all that)

please help if you can.

Welcome!

Boinc does at times a lousy job when it estimates the needed time for a new user and a new project. It will need a few weeks to sort it out. You don't need to fix anything or feel guilty. Let the excessive work units simply expire or abort them pre-emptively. No problem with that, they will be given to someone else instead and you download fresh work units when you need again more work.

I added recently two new GPUs. Boinc does fine with the CPUs, but it still downloads too many work units for the GPUs. It's not perfect, but it's not a problem.

Thanks Robert,
My pc has only been able to do cpu units, I think thats all my intel will do,
it was the same when i was with seti@home with the cpu wu's.
but after a week or so the wu's got more accurate.

Here as mentioned, i recently ended up with 19 wu's that all say 5:51 min.
and so far they've all taken over 12 hours to do, each.
they expire between may 22 and may 23 making it impossible to do them all.

Hope a day will come when asteroids@home gets things sorted out.
or we get something like lunatics to help with that.

It will. It takes more than a few work units, but you'll notice the BOINC client will start to alter the run times and then request based off of those times. The ones in my queue are still not exact, but I'm definitely not getting dozens to hundreds of WUs I can't possibly process.
