GridCoin is external to the BOINC projects, you'll have to follow the instructions on their website.

If you notice issues with GPU crunching while using the computer, you can edit your computing settings to disable GPU computing while the computer is in use. I will pause GPU computation manually when watching videos, since I have my "in use" settings to be keyboard/mouse activity in the last minute.

That's ok, BOINC is designed with redundancies to handle situations like that; that's one of the reasons why the deadlines exist.

BOINCstats has reduced the refresh rate for their stats due to failing hardware, so they may lag behind other stats sites.

I know why not just tell it to suspend when computer is in use. But that's not the point. The point is if the other GPU projects can run to or nearly 100% of my GPU with out effecting my mouse so badly that A@H could check into why it lags a computer to no end.

How are you measuring GPU usage? The only projects I've seen that affect GUI responsiveness are those that utilize over 95% of the GPU, and very few projects make that high usage without dedicating a CPU core. BOINC is not a reliable measure of GPU utilization. Most GPU projects have such high I/O needs that they can't sustain a high level of GPU utilization while making full use of the CPU at the same time.

That can happen with a fresh BOINC installation, since the client hasn't figured out how much work to request yet. It will normalize in a few days.

No, it's not possible to limit gpu usage (GPU Load %) by any BOINC file.

You might be able to with a third party utility; tthrottle will throttle the GPU according to temperature, for example. Or, you could simply set "Don't use GPU when computer is in use" and the delay to a low setting.

I would check WUprop http://wuprop.boinc-af.org/results/delai.py to see what projects other people are running with your same card.

Just trying to clean up my host stats, but I've come across a host that I can't merge. It is my Android phone; duplicates were probably created when I did a factory restore to attempt to correct issues with the BOINC manager not displaying any tasks, even though work was being completed and returned to the projects.

The two hosts I would like to merge are 122942 (current) and 119839 (old). However, when I click the link to merge them, I get the message "No hosts are eligible for merging with this one." Clicking on the details shows this information:

Host 119839 has overlapping lifetime: (3 Oct 2014 - 6 Feb 2015), (12 Sep 2014 - 31 Oct 2014)

I'm not entirely sure how to read the "overlapping lifetime" information, but that should only be relevant for the end of October. Please advise if there is something that can be done to merge these two host records; it's not exactly a critical situation, but I like to keep my host stats nice and orderly.

Since the GPU tasks are given the same credits as the CPU tasks, I assume that they are both doing the same sort of computations.

All tasks get the same credit at this project, when they are completed and verified successfully, regardless of their computational length.

To be honest, I haven't really compared my GPU and CPU tasks on this project too closely. With some projects the size of each task can vary a lot, and many give GPUs larger tasks since they are able to process normal ones much quicker. However, I'm just speaking generally--don't have enough experience with this particular project to say whether that is the case or not, since it seems a lot of GPU tasks get validated against CPU ones.

If you're interested in increasing your GPU's output, you might have a look at some of the other GPU projects.

The massively parallel capabilities of many GPUs can greatly accelerate some (but not all) types of computation.

Most of us found that out 6-7 years ago :P

Looks OK now... You can always have a look at the server status page http://asteroidsathome.net/boinc/server_status.php to see what's in the hopper. Sometimes, things stall out or there is admin action required to continue task creation.

Depending on how much you use your computer, and whether you leave it on 24/7 or not, you might get a better overall return if you left it to compute 100% but not do any work while it's in use.

It can take up to a day for most projects to have their stats updated at BOINCstats, and other combined stats sites.

On another note, it's generally considered bad form to drag up topics over a year old, especially when it's a topic that doesn't really address your issue.
