Hi Dr Who Fan,

I've been receiving regular asteroid android tasks for months; I'm crunching them on a Samsung tablet, Boinc version 7.4.53, Android v. 8.1.0 with Samsung Experience v.9.5, Android security patch level 01 April 2020. WU's are generally taking about 33-34 hours to complete, and appear to be regularly replaced as they finish. Maybe if you check your task settings..?

Today I got 17 Asteroids W.U.s.

There is something seriously wrong with this project, where the server does not update as to work available, etc. I've been sent over 1400 wu's which defies rhyme and reason. And still no contact from those running it..Giving up, I'd rather crunch WCG and Einstein. This project is a total mess.

As above, Translated into English, hope no one minds;

Francisco J. Jimenez Valencia

Good morning everyone.

I am not an expert and I am not rich either, but my computer is at your service, you can use it exclusively remotely if you want as a temporary server, I have a good fiber optic connection, the equipment is an i7 and it has 2 HDD, 1 of 1TB and the other 2 TB are Seagate Barracuda 7200rpm.

I am not a scientist and I have been unemployed for 5 years, so I cannot help you with money, but with my PC which is mounted with scraps, lol, little by little I improve it.

I could also use a course on how to better use BOINC Manager, if possible a manual for useless lol, in this way I could help you with my time in a non-profit way of course.

Congratulations to all, you are INCREDIBLE ....

P.S. For anyone who can teach me to do my bit.

See what I mean...? 2 days on from my last post, No response, no interaction, thousands of crunchers left hanging with no WU's to crunch. I honestly believe this is an important project that is worth doing, but the people running don't give a damn about the volunteers trying to support it. Currently under 22000 wus in action, nothing new for a week. CAN'T SOMEONE AT ADMIN WAKE UP AND RESPOND TO THE VERY PEOPLE CRUNCHING YOUR WORK FOR YOU????? IT'S CALLED RESPECT....

Don't any of you hold your breath, in the wait for new wu's. After my outburst on this website in March 2021 about the total lack of support and communication from admins & mods, it's happened again, and will keep happening. Read the patronising response to my original post. Nothing has changed, and nothing will. Check the current server status. Is there a single Boinc project that is mismanaged by the admins as much as this one - no communication, no updates, no work units, but dare get frustrated and complain, when you're supporting the project with YOUR PC & software, and YOUR time, resources, and ELECTRIC bill (financial cost), and you get a patronising response about anger management.....Jeeze...Glad I moved to Einstein@ Home. Just hoping we don't get hit by a NEO because this lot in charge(?) didn't get off their arses & keep their volunteer crunchers stocked with data...How many posts from so MANY frustrated crunchers does it take to get the team in charge to actually react??????????? If you lot in charge were running a commercial company you'd be bankrupt...Seriously, what is so difficult about putting a few lines of script on the webpage so we all know what's going on, and when we can expect WU's to crunch in this very worthwhile project???

Basically , it's a great project, as regards its goals. It's the admins who are total fuckups who never respond to the people doing their work for them. They are arrogant, unresponsive, total dickheads, and should have this very important project taken off them and given to a new team that respects the people who donate hardware, software, computing time, electric costs, etc, etc, etc. The diaper police who run this scheme will now ban me again(2nd time) because instead of actually fixing the fucking ONGOING problem, or asking anyone to help(donations, hardware, software, advice)respond by ...not responding...or banning boincers for sharing a reasonable opinion about their useless attempts at running a worthwhile project. But, hey, why let the science get in the way when you can just shaft users who have an opinion about your inability to run the project for the very users who do the work for you... bye all. There are other more worthwhile projects on the boinc network than this shit fest run by a bunch of unresponsive dumbnutts. BYE.

This remains, a great project with worthy goals, run by idiots, people who still don't understand that it's the crunchers who provide the means to crunch YOUR data!!! Get the lead out, start trying to provide a steady stream of work, because you are losing people in droves!!! If you need extra help ASK!!!

Exactly what I and many others have noticed - some WU's are taking at least twice as long as a few weeks ago - I've got WU's today completing in 26:57, where they used to take 12-13mins. Can only surmise the WU's in question are twice as big, or twice as complex, to take twice as long. As we're now out of work, be interesting to see what the next new batch of WU's brings....and then, this...

THIS IS BLOODY RIDICULOUS !!
I've got over 400 WU's unable to upload because of this fault, 3 machines now sitting idle, and likely as not won't receive any credit, let alone an apology for the sheer waste of electric. This is the 6th outage in 5 weeks, and I'm fed up reading apologies for the poor overworked guy running the project - because he ain't!! And yet again, we wait 5 weeks for an apology that's not even true - the problem is still ongoing. I have no faith that this will even be read by an 'admin' or 'project scientist', because there's never any acknowledgement that this crap will end - even a weekly update would be something, but I won't hold my breath...as I said in a previous post, this is sheer bloody arrogance from a guy who obviously doesn't give a flying f*@~ about the crunchers donating their resources(time, software, hardware, ELECTRIC COST), to a worthwhile project that's being let down by HIM. Rant over, and I'm outta here! BYEEEE!

And 2 days later, still no work

Work #
Tasks ready to send 0
Tasks in progress 165071
Workunits waiting for validation 0
Workunits waiting for assimilation 2
Workunits waiting for file deletion 0
Tasks waiting for file deletion 0
Transitioner backlog (hours) 0.00

So, last week, and the week before, disk full, no uploads, & numerous tasks completed with no credit due to outages, and still no word from the project managers. So, taking my kit & my electric bill elsewhere. The lack of any update from anyone managing the project is the reason why.

I agree. The total lack of communication from the project managers appears as arrogant, and happens toooo many times, especially in the last month. I'm not whining about the credits fiasco, as credits in themselves are meaningless, serving only as a comparative between crunchers, and the same situation affects all boinc projects. However, the waste of resources (cost of hardware, software, internet charges, electicity), when acknowledgement for work done is ignored, is what annoys a lot of crunchers. It is not enough simply to say the project managers are working on a solution, it would help if a simple daily update could be given so we can make an informed decision as to whether to switch to another project until the problem is resolved. As the previous poster has stated, it's especially galling when we stick with the project during an outage only to find many of the wu's fail to credit because of problems caused by outages.

...so, the project server runs out of disk space, no communication from admin, we continue to crunch WU's in good faith, upload and report them, and then get penalised "Completed, too late to validate", because the server ran out of disk space..Seriously thinking of taking my electricity usage somewhere else...Annoyed!
