Don't know why you're asking in this thread.....
Look in the news section, if you don't find your answer then post there instead :)

My Machine has 4 cores, the keyboard does not stutter. It's going to be a week soon and your server still aint working. Perhaps I should just dump the WU's and dump the project and go elsewhere. It's obvious to me you guys aren't up for the task to keep things running smoothly.

I take it you didn't get his joke, what he was referring to is that you posted your previous post Five times!! Please give enough time for your answer to appear before spamming the reply button :P, as you did this time :)

Bonjour,

Dans quelle mesure et avec quelle puissance d'ordinateur peut-on aider significativement dans ce projet concernant les asteroides ?

Nous ne parlons anglais ici. (that's a google translation so excuse any errors, unfortunately my written French is too poor these days to rely on it!)

I believe you asked with what spec PC could you use to give a significant contribution to Asteroids (not googled :P).
You should start a separate thread for this really, but it depends how significant you mean. If you've got cash to burn then go 6 or 8 core Intel CPU (not sure how well AMD CPUs do, anyone?).
But you would still make a significant (but less of course) contribution running an old C2 Duo 24/7.
As for GPUs, atm only Nvidia ones can be used & they don't give a major speed on Asteroids as they do in other projects, so far.

We have now two volunteers who try to make OpenCL app for AMD cards. Next I'm so busy at work for now. If both of them failed to do OpenCL app, I will do one.

Any progress in sight?

Sorry guys ... I'm still very busy at work. Meanwhile I made success at court of law and I can finally spent my free time with my son.

Good to hear :)

Teach him to program OpenCL ;)

Ok, I guess I do not understand what A@H really calculate, I get the feeling we are mashing numbers with out a clear usage. Just what are we currently doing or what data are we creating and to what usage?

Thanks

Lee

Yea, like he said that info is here http://asteroidsathome.net/, & from the main page.
Oh & linkified for you Kyong ;)

I take it you meant the deadline was 1/7 seeing as it was sent 20/6.
What is the Geode in?

Hey mikey, are you talking about SETI's outage over 10yrs ago when Berkleys pipe was cut? I'm pretty sure they got some sort of word out before they came back up.
.......... have we had this convo before? lol

Hey guys, pls be patient.
Let the Project Admin (Kyong) do his job.

Try other boinc projects, if you don't want your PC(s) to be idle.

Let credits be secondary. Primary: help science.

Err that's a rather sweeping statement!, 1. I/we aren't stopping him doing his job, 2. My, & I bet others PC aren't idle, I'm running LHC & Rosetta when LHC runs out of WUs.

I'm not having a go at Kyong, just saying I hope it's back up before my results expire (which they do according to BOINC in 1/2hr), I'd be disappointed if they do though, but sometimes s**t happens! ;)
