Neither of my systems here can upload finished jobs. Oddly, if it is the space issue, you would expect them to complain at the start of the upload, but these are uploading to 100% then sitting there, waiting for an ack from the host. Wild guess, they upload into a scratch area which gets transferred to the final place upon completion, and it is failing then.

Also worth remembering that many asteroids are loosely bound aglomerations of smaller bodies of various shapes. Even large asteroids will not have enough gravity to collapse down to spheres.

I have, since 15th March, had 25 validate errors, where normally, I have none. They all have very short run times, less than 3 minutes mostly. I can see SOME other crunchers are getting these errors on the same work units also, some after a much longer run. Something a bit flaky right now.

Weekend, Easter week, things and people tend to be less available than normal.

It was like that for a while, but my reports have gone through this afternoon, all of them, so I've enabled new work again.

I've been BOINCing from the start of BOINC, and indeed, with the old SAH predecessor before that. Patience is usually the acceptable tactic.

All my work units finally uploaded, but now it will not accept the report, which, I would have thought, would use a trivial, if any, server space. To add to the fun, I can't upload to Rosetta@Home this morning!

Many quick fails here. This looks relevent:

Reason: Access Violation (0xc0000005) at address 0x00D021CB read attempt to address 0x00000000

I scanned a few of the error logs, the address is constant. Bad pointer setting perhaps?

I thought the processor in this system had gone on, but, updating the BIOS for a new one, revealed a fault on the motherboard. It has taken me a while to get everything back together, but crunching again now. I had to drop some old work units as they were already past their delivery dte.

It completed without further issue and with a "normal" run time, so it has cheated me somewhat, but never mind, a mystery it shall remain.

It is probably the warmest day of the year so far. This might explain the restart of the machine, although there is a seriously big heatsink on it, but not of the work unit. If it was a checkpoint issue, why did the others start where they did?

When I came home today, this machine had rebooted and was at the log on screen. I don't know why, it was fine when I went out. Upon logging on and the inevitable waiting whilst all the junk starts up, BOINC started and it started running 3 Asteroids work units, (and an Einstein). Two of them had elapsed times just short of 2 hours and were running, showing roughly 30% complete each. The third had an elapsed of almost three hours, and 0.0% Progress. It appears to be running normally, elapsed increasing, remaining decreasing, progress rising. It is http://ps_150702_input_78688_10 this work unit. No action taken, just watching for now.

It was consistent, same again, resumed, ran for 2 seconds then to completion went into the stratosphere again. Aborted.

Machine has been restarted again, (I'm trying to get rid of Windows 8.1 on it), with the Asteroids job suspended. When it came up, still showing suspended of course, it shows the Asteroids job as 86.875% complete elapsed 15:08:53 and 02:17:18 remaining. When the other jobs are finished, (there are just 2 Constellation wu's left, longest has 5 hours to run), I'll release it and see what happens.

You are probably right about it, but it is intruiging what the hell it is doing. It looks like it has been working okay.

Machine has been up and down a few times. Re-enabled the job, completion dropped to zero, remaining started at ~15 hours, then after a few seconds, jumped back up to 87600:00:00 with % complete 0.006%. Suspended again.

I have ps_141205_121649_11 running on one of my machines. It has run in excess of 15 hours, shows 0.007% complete, and 87600:0:0 remaining, 10 years. I have suspended it. Something is obviously wrong here.

Relax! We understand the nature of BOINC projects, (well, most of us anyway). Many of the smaller projects rely on very limited resources in terms of hardware, and people. We'll still be here when it is working again.
