I was with you right up until you went off-the-rails by singling out Southerners. Stupidity and poor education is worldwide. As for our (American) education system, it is best that one remember that the Department of Education is run by Washington, D.C. This is the group who sets education standards and is located in what has always been the North.

Lastly, I'm pretty sure that the post I'm responding to violates three of the message board rules: "hate related", "messaged intended to annoy or antagonize", and "no abusive comments involving nationality or class." I grant that the third example is shaky, but entire media hissy-fits have been had over weaker arguments.

That is all I have to say and will go back to lurking and forgo responding to the subject anymore.

Cheers.

Throttle the BOINC app so it doesn't use 100% of the processors. You won't be able to rip through work units as fast, but you also won't burn your CPU to a crisp.

It is important to understand that heat is the primary killer of chips. The hotter they run, the shorter they last. That is, a chip (any chip), running at 50% of its thermal limit will last longer than one running at 90% of its limit.

I was searching the forums in order to figure out why a large number of my completed tasks are pending validation and it appears that I've found my answer here. Correct me if I'm wrong.

In order for a Task (WU) to be marked as valid, and thus result in credit, it must be processed by two different hosts. If you are the first person to complete the WU, the result will be "Validation pending" until another host completes that particular WU. However, if you are the second person to complete the WU it will be validated almost immediately and will post credits.

Is that an accurate summary?
