I'm assuming you run Windows 10 - otherwise the following may not be relevant.

They almost certainly came via your internet browser(s). Possibly remembered in your browser history, or secretly downloaded after an unfortunate click. If they start when you open a browser, it's probably the former and you need to clean that browser's history. Otherwise it's probably the latter and an antivirus scan which also looks for PUPs is your best bet. You might be lucky to find it in startapps - and remove it via APPs.

Be aware that Asteroids is not yet functional after hardware problems.
Good luck.

No, I compare it to most other projects.
Asteroids and mindmodelling are 2 projects that give the lowest PPD.
Most other have higher PPD.
PrimeGrid, GpuGrid, Yoyo are a bit higher.
The Collatz is without a doubt, giving too high PPD.

GPUs can't perform all the smart operations that CPUs can.
Some projects have more limited multitasking possibilities than others. Some have none at all which is why not all projects have GPU versions.
Comparison of GPU project performance is thus futile - by the way you failed to mention milkyway and Primegrid Genefer GPU WUs.

It is reassuring that Asteroids gives the same credit per WU whatever the process.

The smaller the CPU involvement, the greater the amount transferred to the GPU. This should be considered a measure of efficiency - not the opposite.

Hi,

My wife has a computer with à GPU NVidia GTX 1060 3GB, OS Windows.
I have a computer with two GPUs NVidia RTX 2080 Ti, OS Xubuntu.

With one GPU NVidia GTX 1060 3GB : 35000 points per day.
With two NVidia RTX 2080 Ti : 120000 points per day !!!
With one GPU NVidia GTX 1060 3GB : 1300 seconds for one task.
With one NVidia RTX 2080 Ti : 680 seconds for one task !!!

What is the problem ?
Linux ?

Are 102.13 (cuda102_linux) exactly the same tasks as 102.00 (cuda55) ?
If so, I don't think it's interesting for me to do GPU calculations for Asteroids@home with my two NVidia RTX 2080 Ti.

Superficially it looks like your math doesn't stack up. One 2080 is apparently 2 times faster than a 1060, and two of them are about 4 times faster. What did you expect ?

I am not so sure there is a misunderstanding.

I have quite a number of results awaiting validation when both computers have completed a work unit & reported the fact.

At the time of writing (10.04.2020 09:00 UTC) I checked your pendings. The wingman was still in progress in ALL 72 !
Remember - there can be a delay in the project to update your status after the wingman's is updated.

Some years ago I was advised by another project to do the same. So I upgraded to the latest WHQL version. It would crash from time to time. So I went to the PC manufacturer's page and downloaded their latest certified nvidia driver - and the problems disappeared. I guess I will just have to try it.

Here is Nvidia's warning on their download page -
As part of the NVIDIA Notebook Driver Program, this is a reference driver that can be installed on supported NVIDIA notebook GPUs. However, please note that your notebook original equipment manufacturer (OEM) provides certified drivers for your specific notebook on their website. NVIDIA recommends that you check with your notebook OEM about recommended software updates for your notebook. OEMs may not provide technical support for issues that arise from the use of this driver.

Your wording gives the impression that 10.2 is more efficient for the application - whereas it is actually a requirement. If you had made this clear, I would not have posted.

Good luck with the new app.

I am currently on the latest nvidia driver APPROVED for my 64-bit PC. Together they have CUDA 9.2 and CC 6.1.
It seems that I do not require a newer driver - can you be more accurate ?

"It's alright. Project server will adapt to that and eventually tasks will get crunched somewhere."

Richie:
Thanks for the reply and the commiseration.
Steve Gaber

It's not alright - the project has to wait for an eventual time-out before it can resend. This delays their research.

It is far more relevant to ask whether
Steve Gaber
runs 24/7.
If not - how can one expect a scheduler to guess time scales ?
Otherwise - the scheduler takes all projects' tasks' deadlines into consideration.
Estimates for new (sub-)projects can be far out - but that's true of all new activity.
And who leaves their PC's unattended for 10 days' buffer ?

Cut the crap - someone along the line is not supporting the concept of -
"backwards compatibility"
I'm no expert - but the references seem to point at David Anderson at BOINC

i somehow didn't recieve any tasks recently, anybody know why?

While you're here on the web-site - the "server status" page will tell you why you are not receiving WUs

When you have time to extend your AVX register, can you also include i3-5005 ?

The problem is not the RAM. The problem is that the projects have not developed a version of their apps for x86 Android devices (Intel CPU). They have a version only for ARM ones (Qualcomm Snapdragon, Exynos, HiSilicon and MediaTek CPUs). Only SETI@Home Beta Test and Collatz Conjecture have ones available for x86 Android devices with Intel CPUs

My Lenovo S10 is running Windows 7 ... if that matters.

You don't have an atom registered at asteroids - make sure the project has been added to the client.
