Posted 20 Mar 2017 by Richie Post: Current drought already mentioned under "Problems and bug reports". Since the server tends to run out of work every month we could be even more efficient by reusing old threads to report about the frequent problem: "Queue is dry, out of WUs" ;) |

Maybe user community could even arrange funding for some kind of upgrade, but I understand there could be reasons why that idea wouldn't work. |

Posted 29 Sep 2016 by Richie Post: I can't see yet if they will validate successfully. Yes, they seem to validate successfully. A task which now takes a couple of minutes to complete is treated similarly with old tasks that used to take hours to complete. So, this current situation is basically damaging the long time "badge system" by heavily twisting the requirements of how much work is needed. |

Posted 29 Sep 2016 by Richie Post: I attached one fresh "Microsoft Windows running on an AMD x86_64 or Intel EM64T CPU" host to see how CPU tasks are doing at the moment. All tasks with SSE2 and SSE3 application finish with immediate computation error. Tasks with AVX application complete unnaturally fast, but without error. I can't see yet if they will validate successfully. |

Posted 15 Jan 2016 by Richie Post: Luckily, the deadline for newly downloaded tasks seems to be always somewhat far in the future. If a host can contact project server at least once a day, it's quite easy to avoid having the tasks end up late. I take a look at the running tasks daily and find the next task in queue. I have decided for example: That next task in line needs to have the deadline NOT BEFORE tomorrow evening. And same procedure always... every day. If there are tasks that have deadline earlier than tomorrow evening, I'll cancel enough of them until my requirement is met. Then I let the scheduler download new tasks and those will be placed in the end of the tail. That way I can leave the computer, relax and sleep long in the morning, knowing there won't be any tasks missing the deadline if I manage to check at the host again before the next evening. Or sometimes I might even change the rule to something like "next deadline at least two days ahead". If your tasks are at the knife edge at the moment and some of them are ending up late, just cancel a ton of them in cold blood (tasks for the next five days, for example). Those cancelled tasks will reborn somewhere else. |

Asteroids has "Tasks to send: 0" at the moment... http://asteroidsathome.net/boinc/server_status.php SETI is propably down... |

Posted 2 Apr 2015 by Richie Post: Makes no sense to me why this issue has not been fixed. Well, the reason is very simple: Administrator of this project is busy. Obviously he hasn't had enough time to do it yet. He will fix it when he has enough time to study what causes the problem plus apply the fix. |

Posted 18 Mar 2015 by Richie Post: Download errors are producing digital waste again. Many tasks are ending up like this: Exit status -186 (0xffffffffffffff46) ERR_RESULT_DOWNLOAD Stderr output <core_client_version>7.4.42</core_client_version> <![CDATA[ <message> WU download error: couldn't get input files: <file_xfer_error> <file_name>input_1417_50</file_name> <error_code>-200 (wrong size)</error_code> </file_xfer_error> </message> ]]> |

Project administrator wrote about the situation: http://asteroidsathome.net/boinc/forum_thread.php?id=418&postid=4076#4076 |
