Your personal background.
If you’re getting emails you don’t want in your Gmail inbox, you
can block or unsubscribe from the sender, or report the message
to Gmail. Note: If someone uses Gmail to harass, intimidate,
or threaten you, they're violating Gmail's Program Policies.
If you feel that you're in danger, contact your local authorities right away,
and ask whether any cyber harassment laws apply to your situation.
When you block a sender, messages they send you will go to your Spam
folder. 1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Gmail app .

2. Open the message. 3. In the top right of the message, tap More .
If you blocked someone by mistake, you can unblock them using the same steps.
If you signed up on a site that sends lots of emails,
like promotions or newsletters, you can use the unsubscribe link to stop Getting A Lot

these emails. When you’ve received a lot of email from a
sender that you haven’t opened for awhile , Gmail may suggest that you unsubscribe from that
list. 1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Gmail app .
2. Open an email from the sender you want to unsubscribe from.
3. At the bottom of the message, tap Unsubscribe or Change preferences.
If you don't see these options, the sender didn't give information required for unsubscribing.

Instead, you can follow the steps above to block the sender or mark the message as spam.

Each day, messages from Nigerian princes, peddlers of
wonder drugs and promoters of can’t-miss investments choke email inboxes.

Improvements to spam filters only seem to inspire new techniques to break through
the protections. Now, the arms race between spam blockers and spam senders is about to escalate with the
emergence of a new weapon: generative artificial
intelligence. With recent advances in AI made famous by ChatGPT, spammers could have new tools to evade
filters, grab people’s attention and convince them to click, buy or give up personal
information. As director of the Advancing Human and Machine Reasoning lab
at the University of South Florida, I research the intersection of artificial
intelligence, natural language processing and human reasoning.
I have studied how AI can learn the individual preferences, beliefs and personality quirks of people.
This can be used to better understand how to interact with people, help them learn or provide
them with helpful suggestions. But this also means you should
brace for smarter spam that knows your weak spots - and can use them against you.

Spam, phishing emails & texts, and robocalls are on the rise.
If you receive any suspicious communications from someone who says
they are Verizon, we want to know about it. You can also report fraud
to the Federal Trade Commission. Text message (SMS) or email phishing scams often attempt to lure customers to a fraudulent website to input
personal information and/or download virus infected programs.
Verizon will never ask for personal or account information by email or text
message. If you receive a text message or email similar to the ones below (the content
may vary slightly), you should send it to Verizon (see below for details)
then DELETE IT IMMEDIATELY. Receiving a suspicious message
typically will not put you at risk if you do not
reply, click on links, or share any personal information. If you did click or
provide personal information in response to a suspicious text message, you should contact us
to help secure your account, and reach out to any financial institutions or
other services you believe may be impacted.

Allowing your subscribers the option to unsubscribe from your email list may
seem like a bad thing, but it can actually save you a ton of headaches in the long run. If a subscriber wants to unsubscribe from
your email list, and they have no link to do so, they’re more likely to not engage with your email.
That can lead the mailbox provider to mark the email as spam.
If the customer doesn’t ignore your email, they could mark your email as spam,
which puts you in the same predicament. If your email newsletter
is not formatted correctly, chances are it’ll be flagged as
spam by the mailbox provider. There are certain words or phrases you might be using in your emails that
are triggering spam filters to consider your email spam. Some of these are super common, and some are exactly the sort of thing you’d
expect. Words such as winner, risk-free, congratulations, double your
cash, free gift, earn extra cash, and more can trigger a mailbox, making it believe you’re trying to send an email with a scam or unsafe
content.
