Hi,

I know this is a stupid question, but I just can't find another reason.

3 computers has stopped crunching Asteroid jobs using the GPU's and all I did was change the port for SSH "/etc/ssh/sshd_config" and remote GUI in the boinc default client: "BOINC_OPTS="--allow_remote_gui_rpc --gui_rpc_port 31xxx".

Any ideas?

Answer is simple
Read around (other threads) to find why

BilBg is telling you that IF you had read some of the other threads you would known that Asteroids has NO units AT ALL until Monday sometime. That means LEAVE IT ALONE and see if it comes back on later on, if not then you may need to reload Boinc. The home page has a 'server status' page, check it out, when there are lots of units do a manual update and see if yours works.

Have you started getting new work, Dan? I had been giving my GPU time to another project, but decided to try some A@H GPU work units. I haven't gotten any yet, and I've been trying to figure out if its something in my settings, which are scattered among the BOINC client, the project, and BOINCstats/BAM (having set up that rig before I thought much about how I was going to control it, I may have made a mess of the settings by doing things in too many places).

The other option, of course, is that A@H doesn't have any GPU work units available right now, but I'm not sure how to find out. The application selection list in user settings doesn't distinguish between CPU and GPU applications. I get CPU work units fine (except, of course, for during the weekend's brief shortage or when the server crashes -- I suppose that I should make that explicit so I don't irk BilBg. After all, keeping BilBg happy is our reason for being here, isn't it).

Not possible - the 'units' are the same.
They are only labeled 'for CPU' 'for GPU' 'for ATI AMD' 'for NVIDIA' ... at the moment they are sent.
(there is no difference in the file someone receive 'for CPU' and you receive 'for GPU')

Your BOINC have to ask for GPU work to receive any (did it ask?)

(I think I read somewhere that recent changes to BOINC server code introduced bug (which I don't know if still exist or is fixed)
- if your BOINC ask for both CPU and GPU work - the server first 'fills' the CPU (days of work 'to keep busy' per your Settings)
If the bug is still in place - reduce your WU cache (days of work) to be able to get work for GPU
)

P.S.
After looking at your Computer 113536
http://asteroidsathome.net/boinc/show_host_detail.php?hostid=113536

"NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX/9800 GTX+ (512MB) driver: 340.52 OpenCL: 1.0"

If you ever use this GPU for OpenCL apps:
@Pre-FERMI nVidia GPU users: Important warning (about 340.52+ driver)
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=75633

(some programs like video converters/editors may also use CUDA or OpenCL and 340.52+ driver on Pre-FERMI GPU may/will make errors.
- Return to older driver and never update
)

P.P.S.
On second look - your computer 'Created 1 Aug 2014' never received CUDA tasks (for NVIDIA):
http://asteroidsathome.net/boinc/host_app_versions.php?hostid=113536

The reason is simple:
"The apps are for NVIDIA with CUDA 5.5 and Compute Capability 2.0":
http://asteroidsathome.net/boinc/forum_thread.php?id=233&postid=2227#2227

Your GPU have 'Compute Capability: 1.1':

Hi EveningStarNM ;)

I started receiving new jobs today! And I haven't been changing anything, so it must have been an outsite problem. I've experienced very bad connection/long answer time to asteroid(at)home so it might be a national issue.

Have you received any jobs7work now???

Hi Mikey,

I've been checking the forum to see if any threads were less than a day or two old, to look for news.
I've been checking these as well:
http://asteroidsathome.net/boinc/forum_forum.php?id=1
http://asteroidsathome.net/boinc/forum_thread.php?id=357

I've been checking: http://asteroidsathome.net/boinc/

    News

    Server maintenance
There is going to be server maintenance on 09.09.2014 starting at 08:00 UTC. It will take approximately 30 hours.
edit: The maintenance will be tommorow.

    Server problem this week (11.8.-17.8.2014)
First, we are very sorry for this situation.
Admin of Asteroids@home (Kyong) went on vacation. He will be back on Sunday 17.8.

Sorry if I missed something, that's why I asked! It's not like I don't try, is it? And, I've been experiencing quite a few "Unable to connect to database - please try again later". Us newbies don't know what you guys know and don't always know where to look. I'm sorry to have caused inconvenience :o

... so it must have been an outsite problem ...

You didn't find "Not Getting Any New Work" and "No New Tasks for the last 8+ hours?" in:
http://asteroidsathome.net/boinc/forum_forum.php?id=4
http://asteroidsathome.net/boinc/forum_forum.php?id=8

Since the lack of tasks is not planned maintenance you'll see nothing in the 'News'
