It is only a city killer Asteroid, so evacuation will be issued.

BTW, are you on a "point of impact trajectory"?

I didn't know they already predicted possibile points of impact.
So no - I live in Poland - i'm not, unless my vessel will be somewhere next to it.

If it hits Atlantic ocean, then a tsunami is possible...which would also devastate the Gdansk & some other coastal regions also in Poland.

But hopefully JWST can have more accurate reading of it within next few months, before we lost it behind the Sun.

@Joseph Durech & @Georgi Vidinski

Is Astreoids@home using this time also for going back in data & searching for asteroid 2024 YR4?

News update: NASA updates chances of ‘city killer’ asteroid 2024 YR4 hitting Earth

Chances of hitting Earth dropped to 0,28%.

But chances of hitting Moon increased to 1%.

As someone who works collision avoidance for NASA. The reality is that we can’t even predict satellite collisions in LEO with high confidence until like 12hrs before collision, and even then the event details can change a lot in the final hours. The amount of variables involved is crazy. So why give any thought to a potential solar system scale collision that’s YEARS away. The numbers and probabilities are quite literally meaningless at this point.

With latest results, 2024 YR4 chance of hitting Earth on 2032 is lowered down to 0,004% & no chance of hitting Earth in next century; but there is still a very high chance of hitting Moon with 1,7%.

I wonder if it's big enough or going fast enough to be a 'moon breaker'? Because that too would bring ALOT of problems for us on the Earth!!

it's a small asteroid. it's not going to break anything.
