Unable to upload completed WUs, receiving this error:

Temporarily failed to upload of ps_...............: transient HTTP error.

Also 'Updating' results in the project results in a 'Communications deferred 23:59:59' message.

The above is on a Linux system.

On a Windows system I was able to download WUs, don't know yet if I can upload.

Thanks.

Yes the thread mentions a server side secondary cert. It also says it needs to be fixed on the server side and so it's a wait and see thing.

You can download the interme. Certificate.

I found it on a server of the university of Münster (Germany)
https://www.uni-muenster.de/CA/de/cacerts.shtml

Debian:
1. go to /usr/share/ca-certificates
2. create a subfolder: ex. 3rd-party
3. download cert: wget https://www.uni-muenster.de/CA/harica-rsa-server-2025.crt
4. dpkg-reconfigure ca-certificates -> Choose Ask, set a mark on 3rd-party/harica-rsa-server-2025.crt and press OK

curl and boinc access are working again.

Edit: Orginal Cert: https://repo.harica.gr/rep_dyn.php

Followed the instructions 1 - 4 but that did not solve the issue.

All the steps completed with no errors.

Anything else I could look into?

Thanks for your help!

It worked well for me, thanks.

The fix you suggested worked on my Debian 12 machine but not on my Debian 10 machine for some reason. Guess it is time to upgrade!

Thanks

i tried to update certificates with chatGPT directly in boinc folder and this just broke any connection to any project :)

i downgraded Boinc from 8.2.6 to 8.2.5 and all requests are fine now

I now have over 300 completed units that will not upload. All have the same error message on upload attempts:
Mon Dec 8 15:28:13 2025 | Asteroids@home | Temporarily failed upload of TASK NAME: transient HTTP error.
I've reinstalled BOINC Manager and the certificate. Still no uploads.

I was running version 8.2.8 of BOINC Manager. I uninstalled it an installed 7.20.2. All the backed up units then uploaded. Next I will reinstall 8.2.8 and see what happens.

This worked for me previously on some older Macs. But I upgraded some newer Macs to 8.2.8 and even manually adding and trusting the cert doesn't help. I guess going back to 8.2.5 is the solution :/ Hopefully this gets sorted out at some point. Manually downloading and installing certificates should not be a normal part of running an application.

Edit: Ack this is all ringing a bell. When I go to BOINC 8.2.5 on github, theres a million versions for every OS.... except macOS! Anyone know how I can get the 8.2.5 intel Mac installer?
