Hi all, first post ever! I’ve noticed that my computer has trouble loading the Asteroids@home website, especially the pages linked in the top drop-down menu. Sometimes the pages don’t load at all. Interestingly, if I manually add "www" at the start of these links, everything loads correctly. This makes me wonder if the issue is related to how the site handles URLs without the prefix. I’m not sure if this is specific to my region (I’m in Quebec, Canada) or if it affects others as well. Since adding "www" seems to fix it, I think updating the links on the site to include it wouldn’t cause problems for anyone else. My question is: who should I contact about this kind of issue? I don’t want to trouble the project lead with something trivial like this. Thanks! |

Only the server admin has control over the web https://asteroidsathome.net/boinc/show_user.php?userid=1 I have no issues accessing it, though. What's the network response in your browser? (press F12) Is "ping asteroidsathome.net" stable? |

Last modified: 5 Oct 2025, 3:42:47 UTC If it were any other site, there would be a practical difference, depending on if the www version was a registered url (long story short, they're two separate websites, even when they point to the same DNS/server; think different PO boxes at the post office for a rough equivalent). Beyond that, yes, permissions (or even security certificates) would be a likely place to look.

Both 'www' and 'direct' websites pings are stable (with normal latencies for respective distances), and I can't reproduce the "server not found" problem consistently, even when flushing the dns-cache, so I'll chalk this up to my University network creating problems. Oh well. Thanks you both!
