I noticed that my NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell GPU (Workstation Edition (97886 MB) driver: 581.80, OpenCL: 3.0) does not pick up GPU tasks from Asteroids@home although an app is available and works fine with my NVIDIA RTX 3080 GPU on another system.

Asteroids@home also works fine with my AMD Sapphire Radeon AI PRO R9700 ((32624 MB), OpenCL: 2.0) GPU, so cards of the professional series are not generally excluded from being supported.

Since that NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell card also works flawlessly with all other tested BOINC projets supporting GPUs such as Primegrid, GPUGRID, Einstein@home and Numberfields@home without requiring a special BOINC CUDA (or OpenCL) app for this type of GPU, it should also work with the EXISTING CUDA app in Asteroids@home.

I simply suspect that this series of graphics cards is not yet recognized as supported on the Atseroids@home server side - is that possible?

The current CUDA application is compiled with CUDA 11.8, which does not support Blackwell.

However, you can use a custom app built with CUDA 12.9 https://asteroidsathome.net/boinc/forum_thread.php?id=1157&postid=9302#9302

To officially support Blackwell, the server simply needs to be updated with the new application, but I don’t have access to the server, so I’m unable to make that change.
