Hello, This is the first time I am seeing this error. Most of my computers have been recieving and sending work fine. A few of my high core count or powerfull computers have been getting the following error: 6/20/2026 9:02:36 AM | Asteroids@home | Sending scheduler request: To fetch work. 6/20/2026 9:02:36 AM | Asteroids@home | Requesting new tasks for CPU and NVIDIA GPU 6/20/2026 9:03:07 AM | Asteroids@home | Scheduler request to http://asteroidsathome.net/boinc_cgi/cgi failed: Failure when receiving data from the peer 6/20/2026 9:03:08 AM | | Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site 6/20/2026 9:03:09 AM | | Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down. Does anyone have any insight into why this is occuring? I tried to lower the work cache but these computers still will not connect and I have moved the computers to other project. Thank you in advance! |

You have many computers, so it would help if you specified which one is having issues. If it’s a Mac, it could be a known certificate issue (fixed in BOINC 8.2.15) https://asteroidsathome.net/boinc/forum_thread.php?id=1179 Android devices may also require an update of the BOINC client. If it’s neither of those cases, try enabling http_debug for more detailed logs. Can’t you connect to the server at all, or is it only happening occasionally? The server might just be busy... |

Most of my computers are Windows 11 pro with a couple of older computers with Debian linux. Here is one of the computers: https://asteroidsathome.net/boinc/show_host_detail.php?hostid=815915 If the server was busy, would not my other computers also have problems downloading new work once in a while? Looks like it contacts the server as it has a very recent "Last time contacted server" status of only a few mins ago. However, I continue to get the error and am not able to download any new work. |

No, the computers are on the same network as others that have no issues. I believe it has something to do with the amount of work that the computer is trying to request or report. Larger amounts tend to give the error. I reduced the requested work cache and it seems to have improved although I still get the error on two of the computers.

Ok, I think this is an issue with the server being highly loaded. I am now having the issue on most of my computers and I am guessing many users are experiencing the same problem. If anyone have a bunch of tasks that are completed and will not report, do the following: 1. Select "no new tasks" for the project and then click update. This should report all the completed tasks. 2. Reduce the work cache to something very low, ie 0.05 days - this will have a greater likelihood of getting work before the connection times out connecting to the server Hopefully this works for anyone having the problem and is a temporary issue. |
