Maybe a newbie question, but is it normal to have a work unit downloaded, whose time for completion is to be 52 hours 46 minutes. all my other work units are in the area of 1 hour 30 minutes or so, but this latest downloaded W/U shows over 52 hours.

just asking is all....LOL.

Regards,

Tom.

It's not real time. Times should be same as before. Boinc client will adjust time estimation after some complete workunits.

I too noticed a big increase in estimated completion times shown by BOINC.
It seems that the reason is an increased <rsc_fpops_est> value in the init_data.xml file for the new WUs.

<rsc_fpops_est>315010000000000.000000</rsc_fpops_est>

That results in 315010 GFLOPS. AFAIK the old value was something like 10000(?) GFLOPS.

I'm not so concerned about time of completion, since there are no WU's available as of 01:45 PST... Where's the BEEF?

It looks we'd better set both Min. & Max. Additional Work Buff to 10 days.

i don't think Viking69 is suggesting you have beef with anyone regarding the new estimated run times...i think he meant "where's the new work" when he said "where's the beef," b/c the server seems very low on new tasks ready to send right now...

i imagine that the massive increase in estimated run times is a result of having updated most of the applications a few days ago...though i can't confirm this b/c i currently have a queue full of Einstein@Home work, and probably won't get any new A@H tasks for a while.

Thanks Sunny 129, sorry to Viking69, no offence meant, sometimes the meaning of text does not translate well so i was unsure of what he meant to say.

Looks like its correct at the moment about lack of W/U`s, i`m on my last one with no new downloads at the moment.

best regards .

Tom.

Tom, no offense taken. I guess my use of a phrase from a 1970's era commercial for a national hamburger chain might be misinterpreted as you having a "beef" (problem, issue, disagreement) with the system admins here at A@H. I was using it to ask "where is the work?", since the server shows Tasks ready to send 1 .
This project has been feeding me lots of work for the last 2 months as I work my way to 1 million credits.

It's because we have no optimized app for Mac.

Yes, but I didn't have much time to solve this, because I have no Mac.

Probably the test can be done by releasing 'Test application' as on other projects:
http://wuprop.boinc-af.org/apps.php

... and in 'Your account' - 'Preferences for this project':

Run test applications? no/yes
This helps us develop applications, but may cause jobs to fail on your computer

Problem with Mac is that we need Mac hw to make builds legally. We have no Mac now. The first build was done by volunteer user with Mac.
