I like me some larger strings....the more the merrier. New to the Astoroid number crunching game. Have been with Seti@home for several years. Finally broke the 1,000,000 mark recently....It's fun, aint it?

OK. 1GHz? Without activ cooling? Lets try it! After finishing this one WU. Till now it still at approximate of 300 hours total time (1.000.000 Seconds)

I have placed passive cooler on cpu with termally conductive adhesive tape and temps are about 57°C.

It's an easy mistake to make if you're not a native English speaker. We are all glad you are at least here trying :-)

I don't know much about ARM so I'm not sure if my info is relevant but FYI...

I have this ARM based tablet crunching Asteroids tasks. It completed the older short tasks in time and recently completed its first new long task in time too. It doesn't over-heat and I've never OC'd it or added better cooling. FWIW.

It's ARMv7. Raspi has one core ARMv6 and is very slow.

My raspberry is now at 40% and 120 hours. The Work Unit will be finished in appoximate 180 hours, but it should be finished in 110 hour.
Such a misery - we will be too late.

My raspi did longer task in 447,546.86 s. It's overclocked to 1GHz.
My RPi:
604,307.00 s @950 MHz OC.

I still have some additional questions (also at kyong):
Raspi Model B with 512 MB ?
SD-card manufacturer?
SD Card capacity?
Wheezy 7.0?

Is there a possibility to get an image <4GB?

Is any research being done reference earth orbit crossing asteroids? If so, what diameter must the asteroid be in order to be tracked? Thanks,

I've been getting several of these. Already validated and counted as an error against me. Please fix this... 4 hours apiece......

Earth orbit crossing asteroids was done by project Orbit@home. Project ended but may it starts early 2014.
This is also time consuming computing so if there is enough data for an asteroid, than there is possibility to compute its trajectory. So tracking an asteroids depend on having data of current trajectory and some of its physical properties. Data depends on many circumastances, size is just one of them.

There is nothing to fix, you didn't finish the computation in time. You had probably more workunits than you were able to compute.

It was due Jan. 7 and I am able to compute every wu in less than 4 hours..... I understand it's very strange. Up until yesterday morning I had put the receipt of all new jobs on hold to make sure I didn't overwhelm my computer. Almost as soon as I re-started "new" jobs and I received those new jobs where the due date was 1-7, I started experiencing problems.

There's nothing strange here. You did get a third copy of a workunit because one (or both) of the previous hosts did not finish it in time. But then the workunit was finished by such hosts behind schedule, the server noticed that the copy sent to you was no longer needed and canceled it. But the server does only cancel workunits which have not been started on your pc yet! This means you will not loose any computation time. The only thing lost here was the unnecessary download volume, if that matters to you.

We had a challenge here which ended a few days ago. I suppose some people downloaded more work than they could finish in time, even I did. And I had a lot of pendings due to work not finished in time by others. Such things happen, no big issue. BOINC is designed to deal with it.

You should not attempt to manage the receipt of new tasks manually. Let BOINC do that for you. In BOINC manager's Advanced View, click Tools -> Computing Preferences -> Network Usage. Set Minimum Work Buffer to 0.10 days, set Max Additional Work Buffer to 0.0 days.

Almost as soon as I re-started "new" jobs and I received those new jobs where the due date was 1-7, I started experiencing problems.

The more tasks you cache and the more you manage the cache yourself the greater the tendency to experience problems.
