I have not received any new work during the last several days due to the following error message. What is the status?

Giving up on download of period_search_10210_windows_intelx86__sse3.exe: permanent HTTP error

It seems to be working for me. I haven't changed anything during last few days. I'll do more test tommorow.

Try to get the file by browser (i.e. click the link):
http://asteroidsathome.net/boinc/download/period_search_10210_windows_intelx86__sse3.exe

File is 283 KB (289 792 bytes)
MD5:
f4a88bf8b5ce29489073e0ec188f2e3f *period_search_10210_windows_intelx86__sse3.exe

If you succeed to Download by browser copy the file to
Asteroids@home directory (<BOINC_Data>\projects\asteroidsathome.net_boinc\)

Where is BOINC Data directory

No, I do not use a proxy.

If you still do not have any workunits from here try resetting THIS project, that will force all the files to be re-downloaded hopefully fixing any problems.

Which BOINC version do you use?
(you have "Computers hidden")

I had similar problems a while ago.
I posted a question in the BOINC forum
http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_thread.php?id=9221

The problem was solved when I reenabled the gpu for this project, did some wu's on the nvidia card and disabled the card again. No idea if this could apply to you since your computers are hidden.
Now the sceduler systems seems to work normal.

I am using BOINC version 7.2.33.

You could try upgrading to the latest release version 7.2.42, or even the new 7.3.?? series if you have multiple user accounts on the pc.

I am the only user on the pc I have. I have not tried to upgrade to the latest version. I think the problem is with the project server.

I updated to latest BOINC version 7.2.42 but I am still getting the same error message. I have stopped running this project until this is fixed.

Hi Rapture,

"permanent HTTP error" is very common to me, since I mostly connect with a slow 2G mobile connection (+ EDGE at least :) ).

If you're also on a slow / mobile connection, try to uncheck "skip image file verification" in the preference of the BOINC manager. Might help, you never know.

But the best solution is to download the file with the browser, as BilBG suggested, and to copy it manually into the \ProgramData\BOINC\projects\asteroidsathome.net_boinc\ subdirectory. Start BOINC again and it will skip the download since the file is already on the local harddrive.

Btw, I'm still using BOINC 7.2.33 and currently have no problem to download new work. YMMV.

Cheers

Well, everything seems to be working ok, so I think that problem might be somewhere with your computer or internet connection. If it is a server side problem it is usually due to bad permissions but if such case no one is able to download such a file. Can you try it on another computer? And did the client try to download another version of the app? SSE2 etc.?

I only have one computer. I checked the BOINC network usage settings and did not find anything that needs to be changed. Network connection is working fine with my other BOINC projects. I also am not able to download the file as suggested by others due to 404 error.

Isn't it possible that you have blocked the part of domain on your router? If you can't download it directly with the link that others posted that it shouldn't be problem on the server side.

The correct file download error is HTTP 403 forbidden. I do not have permission to view the webpage.
