In the Boinc manager I had two jobs say 'Aborted by project' and in Tasks it says 'Cancelled by server'. It wasn't because they were done late since I had just downloaded them today. I was just wondering what caused this. Thanks

Ok, nevermind, I figured it out. Turns out both jobs were completed and validated by two other users before they were sent to me...

Rather validated after they were sent to you. One of the previous users did not report back before the deadline. This is why you got a third copy. Then the late user reported a valid result and your calculation on this work package was no longer necessary. When your computer contacted the server again, it checked if calculation on the redundant tasks had already begun and if not canceled them.

I have about 1400 tasks on two computers Cancelled by Server, possibly a result of the recent server downtime. I think I understand why. So how do I get them do disappear from the tasks in my BOINC client? The only option showing for these tasks is to Suspend, which makes no sense. If I Suspend the only option is Resume. They appear to be taking up space on my computer (in the projects directory) which is why I'd like to get rid of them.

Why not just abort them?

Server maintenance
There is going to be server maintenance on 28.06.2014

Server problem this week (11.8.-17.8.2014)
First, we are very sorry for this situation.

Server maintenance
There is going to be server maintenance on 09.09.2014 starting at 08:00 UTC. It will take approximately 30 hours.

New server added
We have added a new server for database. The project is currently running on two servers. 1 Nov 2014

Server moving and scheduled outages
Server is going to be moved on 17.12.2014. It will be offline since 11:00 UTC, it will be online probably....

hmmm.......All projects in BOINC now have too many volunteers. now is the state we are the scientists ,and on the side projects are volunteers. and we have to to beg for work on our computers and electric bills.
That is sick. They have ask us for help and we have to help.
Now is also the state when we produce something we as volunteers, they're selling information from our research ..

Because, as I stated, the only option available is to Suspend. If Abort were not disabled I would have used it.

When the server comes back up they will go by themselves.

Confirming that jobs cancelled by server or aborted, not started by deadline will clear themselves from the buffer with no user action.

I had a bunch of both types and when the server woke up this morning (Monday) the pending transfers completed and the "undone" tasks were cleared.

I might also have been tempted to intervene manually but I was away from home the past week while my boinc machine churned away. I guess the server move was more difficult than expected, as the upload of completed work got backed up for over a week.

Thanks. I'll just assume it's due to the server having to play catch-up following the longer than expected time to move the server. Perhaps it will clear itself up overnight.
