Very strange. I tested the link after posting it and it worked. I see it isn't working now - possibly because 'earth' was misspelled in the link.

Here is a link that shows the same video but does not have the accompanying text that the original link had:
http://www.space.com/25589-asteroid-impacts-on-earth-more-powerful-than-nuclear-bomb-video.html

Sorry for the typo and confusion.

This URL hosts a slightly less than 2 minute video that shows how the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty Organization has detected 26 explosions caused by asteroids in the period from 2000-2013.

Sorry, this link brings me to an 404 error.

The link works now!

Thanks mikey. I think now I got a handle on how to go back and correct without doing a whole new post to thread...

Good article - or should I say opinion piece - about which type of platform is best for detecting NEOs:

Just hit upon a project called ATLAS: Asteroid Terrestrial-Implact Last Alert System. It is a ground based system of 8 small telescopic cameras with up to 100 megapixel resolution. It should provide up to seven days warning of a 45 meter city killer rock. Read about it here:

This February 2013 article from Universe Today discusses the ESA/US proposal to send two spacecraft (a US collider - DART and an ESA mother ship - AIM) to Didymos to see if it's orbit can be modified and to carry out scientific data collection.

The joint project is called AIDA - Asteroid Impact and Deflection Assessment.

Sentinel Mission Director Harold Reitsema and Mission Scientist Dr. Marc Buie will team up to present their current view of the Sentinel mission parameters to the 46th Lunar & Planetary Science Conference this March in Houston TX. Dr. Buie has completed a simulation model which will explain why the proposed neo-Venusian orbit is twice as effective as the 1 million mile L1/L2 earth orbits.

From Space.com: Asteroid Early-Warning System for Potential Impacts Makes Progress

Scientists working to help safeguard the Earth from potential asteroid strikes are moving forward with a novel Asteroid Terrestrial-impact Last Alert System, or ATLAS, to provide advance warning of potentially dangerous space rocks.

The ATLAS project is an asteroid impact early-warning system being developed by the University of Hawaii and funded by NASA. The project is dedicated to providing a one-day warning in the event of a potential 30-kiloton "town killer" asteroid strike; a week's warning for a 5-megaton "city killer"; and three weeks' notice for a potential 100-megaton "county killer" impact.

"We have First Light," according to an ATLAS team update. In a Colorado-based test at the end of March, the Acam1 camera and ATLAS 1 telescope were tested at DFM Engineering, Inc. in Longmont, Colorado.

In an effort to raise public awareness of the possibility of a fatal asteroid event, Asteroid Day has been planned and will take place June 30, 2015.

Details can be found here: http://www.asteroidday.org/

3 Reasons to Celebrate Earth Day

Dear (newsletter recipient),

Today is Earth Day, and I want to drop you a line to thank you for your steadfast support of the B612 Foundation’s important work to increase global awareness on the issue of planetary defense and the need to accelerate the discovery of asteroids.

Just yesterday, a 15m rock named Asteroid 2015 HD1 passed Earth, only 0.2 lunar distances away (45,600 miles). HD1 was only discovered by the Tucson-based Mt. Lemmon Survey three days ago on April 18. This reinforces our need to accelerate the discovery of asteroids.

Fortunately, since the launch of the B612 Foundation and the Sentinel Mission, there has been a big shift in the global conversation around asteroid detection. And today, on Earth Day, we have much to celebrate! We couldn’t have done it without your support. Some of our major accomplishments in the last year include:

* Being a founding partner in the global movement for asteroid awareness that will culminate in Asteroid Day on June 30, 2015. Many B612/Sentinel Mission supporters are signers of the 100X Asteroid Declaration and are planning Asteroid Day events.

* Release of our Asteroid Impacts video on Earth Day 2014, using data from The Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Organization, shook people’s assumption of how often the Earth is hit by asteroids. This network has never actually detected an atmospheric nuclear explosion, but it instead has detected many multi-kiloton asteroid explosions! The video shows the locations and sizes of asteroid impacts on Earth since 2000, showing that a significant-sized asteroid impacts Earth’s atmosphere on average twice a year! The video has had over 2.5 million views and has been translated into Chinese and Spanish.

* Presenting important new research to the planetary defense community that confirms the Sentinel Space Telescope, a project of the B612 Foundation, in a Venus-like orbit is twice as effective at finding potentially Earth-impacting asteroids than a telescope tied to Earth. This research was unveiled last week at the 4th annual Planetary Defense Conference.

It’s because of your continued support that we’re able to move forward with these important contributions to planetary defense. I hope you’ll consider making a gift today to continue the advancement of this important field. Thank you.

~ (signed Ed Lu co founder of B612)

This is Asteroids NOT MilkyWay, you might want to post your problems on the MW forums.

Quick Question:
I'm confused, the server page shows all project servers running. Still I'm unable to down load any work units or upload any which are over their due-by dates now.

Is the server farm having problems or do I have a configuration problem.

Thanks.
