How are asteroids selected for processing?

Of 300,000+ asteroids with known orbits out there how many are candidates for this analysis?

Can we make requests?

The selection is based on the number of brightness measurements for an asteroid. If there are more than about 50 photometric points, we scan the parameter space with the aim to find a unique model that fits the data. In practice it means that we process the first ~300,000 numbered asteroids.

And we have few hundreds on results page?

Less than 1% of work done?

It means that the success rate of deriving a unique model from currently available data is only ~1%.

That's not the answer for my question (probably because my rusting english skills ;) ).

I mean that we have only few hundreds (or even less, they aren't numbered on the list on the result page) calculated models. From 300+ k. So less than 1% of work done, right?

No, he means that the signal isn't strong enough for many of the asteroids out there. We can only ever hope to get a fraction of the asteroids' shape derived because of geometry.
What we're doing here is using the difference in reflected light to infer something about the shape.
Link to a pretty picture I made
Some asteroids' shape is not very well suited to light curve analysis. Imagine a perfect spherical asteroid. When it rotates, the reflected light does not change so we would not be able to do anything with the light curve. That's why so few asteroids are suited to this method. Though as we get more observations (and observations with higher snr), we should be able to do a larger fraction of them [/b]

So some of these asteroid are named after people still alive, or discovered by people that are still alive. A 3D printed model of you own asteroid makes for a unique gift. So would you consider taking request?

I want to see more scientific info at the boinc program about the work my comp is doing. and most important, Is better to share all of your work. Always there are better ways to calculate those data, and all the world can do it, not only a bunch of people behind closed doors.
You, who are making and working with the projects should share more than the possibility to use our computers.
Let us think for better ways to do your work, because I think this is the work for all of us.
Give the people the possibility to do the change.
Start with making boinc a more scientific program.
