Just curious what the difference is between the 2. I can run sse2 on all 8 cores and keep temps at 60C. If I run 8 avs WUs, temps jump to 70+C. I know Kyong is too busy, but would be nice to make the avx WUs a different app so we could control how many run at a time. Or is there already some other way to limit avx to 4 active WUs?

AVX aplication on Haswell processors (AVX2) is very power and agressive. Computation time of wu go visible down. First help: off HT or use 50% processors. Second help: app.info

So you prefer to run less effective app??

You also seem to say the core temperatures "jump to 70°C"
but Intel defines TCASE Max:
"Case Temperature is the maximum temperature allowed at the processor Integrated Heat Spreader (IHS)."
