If it's running Android, you're probably gonna be out of luck for almost all the projects that support Android. Android on Intels are a very small portion of the market despite what MS might have you believe. If it's Windows, it should generally be able to get work unless a project is requiring a certain minimum computation level (based on the benchmarks). |

Thanks for answering. Yes it is running Android. The only project that sends it WU's at the moment is Collatz. So, if they can manage it why can't other projects? Each project has to have their own programmer to write their app, few actually share, probably for secrecy reasons. This means that the project must know someone who can do it and will do it for free, or nearly free, as there is not alot of money at most projects. Asteroids is mostly a one man show, he does have some friends that help him out, but he is mostly THE guy. Collatz tends to be a proof of concept project for stuff, it is usually on the bleeding edge of new stuff before it gets rolled out to the other projects as they chose to do it or not. |

If you really want it that bad, learn to code. ;) I don't say to be spiteful, but that's really the best way to get it (unless you know someone who you can get to do it). Even SETI@home with multiple applications still has to balance the working on the clients. In fact, some of the clients you use now evolved from 3rd party optimized clients. It still doesn't support every possible configuration out there. There's two things that need to happen: 1. You have to have at least one of the device in the configuration you want to make a client for. 2. There has to be someone who knows how to compile and test the client on that configuration. Even if you donate a device to the project, someone still has to create it and often times that is done by volunteers, such as students. That person can't focus just on a small segment. Also, if that person leaves, there is nobody to maintain the software. SETI is under Berkeley's banner, but it doesn't mean that it gets the full force of Berkeley's funds. Most of these projects are under the banner of an educational institution. Some consider themselves lucky just getting hosting services from their institution... |

Indeed much of the code development for the science apps on SETI@home has been done by the lunatics group. An effort was started to test Android x86 apps on SETI@home Beta. However few people have devices for testing & recently time has been directed to other apps that are more widely used. |

I have a quad core Intel baytrail tablet powered by 4 Intel Atom Z3735G cores. As this runs x86-android-linux-gnu rather than android on ARM the only projects that support it so far are collatz seti@home beta wuprop The atom actually performs very well and is better than my android tv boxes I also use here. |

I have a Lenovo S10 mini-laptop which has a duo core Atom processor and I would love to get it running Asteroids. I have experienced problems with other BOINC projects (extended suspensions) due to the 1 Gb RAM (?) available with the laptop and hopefully Asteroids will yield better performance.

Last modified: 30 Dec 2015, 18:51:02 UTC And where is the Event Log (Ctrl+Shift+E) requested by admin? (first 30-40 lines?) The first line shows the platform: Starting BOINC client version 7.6.9 for windows_intelx86 Starting BOINC client version 7.0.25 for windows_x86_64 Starting BOINC client version 7.2.42 for x86_64-pc-linux-gnu Starting BOINC client version 6.12.38 for arm-android-linux-gnu Starting BOINC client version 7.0.27 for arm-unknown-linux-gnueabihf Starting BOINC client version 7.2.39 for x86-android-linux-gnu (all the above lines found by Google) P.S. Here the thread name "Intel Atom" is misleading, it should be?: Asteroids@home application for Android + Intel - ALF - "Find out what you don't do well ..... then don't do it!" :) |

Last modified: 6 Feb 2016, 12:49:23 UTC The problem is not the RAM. The problem is that the projects have not developed a version of their apps for x86 Android devices (Intel CPU). They have a version only for ARM ones (Qualcomm Snapdragon, Exynos, HiSilicon and MediaTek CPUs). Only SETI@Home Beta Test and Collatz Conjecture have ones available for x86 Android devices with Intel CPUs ASUS X570 E-Gaming AMD Ryzen 9 3950X, 16 core / 32 thread 4.4 GHz AMD Radeon Sapphire RX 480 4GB Nitro+ Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti Gaming X Trio 4x16 GB Corsair Vengeance RGB 3466 MHz |

Last modified: 29 Feb 2016, 10:24:31 UTC I've added an ASUS ZenFone Zoom (ASUS_Z00XS Intel Atom Z3580 2.3GHz 64bit, but the project shows 1.33GHz). Are there news about a version for x86 Android devices?
