Upon visualisation of the asteroids home project i can quickly say that this is a sword with doble blade. At first we see what the computer is running and this first way to see the project is the best. The second way is the user with knoledje in physics: when he is seeing worse computing (like excited rotation) he is searching to stop this work unit because he is thinking that someting worse is calculated in this computer. The tird way is to let computing everything but with a critical eye and apreciating "worse computing" as a lesson to understand better several approaches of a same problem. This is the result of a model with several liberty degrees and in several liberty degrees you have only one degrees which is the best solution. This was my easiest way to explain a mathematical approche of such complex problem but this is explained in scienjce university at the first year of the study during two hours. A complete knoledje could be created only with the complete differencial space of solution. Everything must be calcdulated until the end. This was my opinion |

asteroids home is working both: shape and trajectory. You are incorrect. See http://asteroidsathome.net/boinc/forum_thread.php?id=12&postid=58#58 |

I think since several months where not more asteroids found. The damit database progressed each months, but since 3 months we dont see apearing more models or morez asteroids Inside of the database. I think that the new discover of asteroids could be difficult to find. What is the opinion of our specialists? |

I would so much like to support this project, but lately I've had increasingly often moments when I've been thinking "why do I run these" or "I don't really know wtf I'm running".... and that's because the communication - from the project to volunteers - has become almost non-existent. That doesn't help with maintaining motivation. I believe fixing that wouldn't really require much. Just some small updates now and then. A few easily understandable lines about what kind of results all volunteer computing has produced recently. Personally I would like to reach a certain goal of course, but all that road is going to be very boring if the "co-operative" standards on this project will remain like it is now. It feels like being left alone somewhere and crunching some tasks that I don't know what them are for. These days there is regularly a shortage of available tasks. It's technically okay, no problem. "Keep at least 7 days of work" helps with that. But it would be interesting to hear even a few words how things are going behind the curtains. Being somewhere alone and not exactly knowing why to keep turning the wheel.. it tends to push motivation downwards. |

Last modified: 10 Mar 2018, 19:41:40 UTC Um, no. See https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0019103517300313. Dr. Durech, the lead author of that article, is the project director. The peer review process for publication is really slow... that article was submitted to arXiv in July of last year, and it's only hitting the press next month. They are clearly still working in the field, and while that paper doesn't specifically cite this project, from reading the preprint it's pretty clearly the same work. |

Hi, don't worry, the project is still alive. If not, if wouldn't have run till today. Some new results are ready to publish but I am now in process of website reconfigure. Also, we do not have constantly work due to low free space on servers but we should add a new server to fix the problem this summer so after adding it there shouldn't be gaps with no available WUs to send.

Hey just for your info. Asteroids@home is a discipline in the annually Boinc Pentathlon and could tip the scales for the overall medals. Unfurtunately, your project does not deliver workunits since a couple of hours. participating teams get in trouble to get work for your project done. Is it possible that you can focus on delinveing WUs again? Many Thanks :) |
