Could all the deadlines be extended by the length of the uploads outage?

Note that if this is done, the new deadlines are likely to show only on the server, not on the computers of those who are participating.

Could the server program that checks for overdue tasks be modified in a way that should reduce the disk load somewhat?

Whenever it finds a task past its deadline, it should send out another copy only if the last file upload or task report rejected due to low free disk space was at least 24 hours ago. If the last rejected upload or report was less than 24 hours ago, it should extend the server's copy of the task's deadline by 24 hours instead.

This should reduce the number of tasks sent out only because the computer it was sent to could not upload the output files or report that the task was finished. One of my computers already spent time on a task that would not have been needed if this was done.

On another subject, I'm now seeing signs that a FEW of the delayed uploads and reports are finally happening today. A rather small percentage of them so far, though.

Back in the 80s when I started working in data processing, sorry, computing, sorry, IT, I was told by the Operations Manager that when sizing disc storage one should "Work out how much you need for the life of the system, allow for operating system overhead, then double it, then add a zero to the end. If you are lucky, it will last you most of the first year."

In all my experience since then, he was about right.

(P.S. don't forget space for the development environment and the test environment, the RAID overhead and then double the lot so you can have mirrored sites.)

All my workunits not have the output files uploaded, but still aren't able to report that the workunits are finished. In other words, some progress on this problem, but it still isn't completely fixed.

Same here. Have around 30 tasks uploaded but not reported.

I have about 25 ready to report. The earliest due date is March 16...hoping it's fixed by then. I'm continuing to crunch.

It may be fixed. I just saw all the delayed reports from my computers had happened while I wasn't looking.

That is a good solution but realization is uneasy due to money. That would cost a lot which we don't have for that.

I received credit for most of my tasks, but 5 are showing a status of "aborted by project".
