Given that 90% of hosts crunching BOINC are Windows, it would be sensible/useful/nice to develop an appropriate app ASAP. Both 32 and 64 bit ideally.

I dare say someone (Zombie67, take a bow) will along shortly to request a Mac app ;)

Cheers,

Al.

p.s. Don't ask me for a citation on the Windows/*nix split, I can't remember where I found the host breakdown.

We are counting with releasing of windows version but first there are some other details to fix. The application was originally developed for linux so it may taky some time to convert and compile it to windows but I hope it won't take a long time.

No problem. Much rather you get it right then release. We'll still be here waiting.

We will try but it is a little problem, there is no one of us with Mac, so converting the application won't be easy.

Two possible solutions are to run an OSX instance in a VM, or cross-compile on a different platform. I believe that other projects have used this approach, but don't take my word for it :)

Oh, third solution, hope that a kind mac expert joins the project and can help out. I'm also pretty sure that someone will help out with a GPU app too sooner or later.

Cheers,

Al.

BOINC 7.x supports apps running under Virtual Box.

They run the linux app under Vbox (the same as Cern). Saves developing apps for alternative platforms.

Just joined (at least tried to) asteroids@home. What a disappointment to find out you don't support Windows operating systems. Please reconsider your position, and place windows support at the top of your to do list. Thanks in advance for your concideration. Rick

Sometimes the patience is important. But we are still working on it.

Dear Asteroids@Home Administrators,
Thank you for being very responsive to my previous requests for modifications, so I could crunch for you. Alas, another need has popped up. Please consider giving us a bit more time to complete your work units. I have an old Sony Vaio (263Mz 128MB RAM) which has been crunching seti@home since it was born more than a decade ago. With recent requirement changes at seti, my baby PC can no longer crunch their work units. I've been trying to crunch for Asteroids, but fall just a few days short with my baby PC. Please give this request you serious consideration.
Regards,
Rick

You can do SETI v7 on that Computer:

... if you read this post (by Josef W. Segur):

(if you need assistance how to do that - ask in the above linked thread)

Thanks BilBg! I made the changes your links detailed for the seti workaround, and I'm crunching seti on my Baby PC again. Would still like to add Asteroids as a project though. Thanks again, Rick
