Hello, new user here.

To make a long story short, I have a computer running puppy linux that is on 24/7 that is acting as both my main boinc computer and localnet Web server unrelated to boinc.
When I set up my puppy linux, I installed hiawatha (the Web server) first and had it use port 80 (the default because changing it can get messy). The problem I am now having is that after I set up my webserver, I set up boinc, and now boinc is unable to receive tasks which I believe is due to hiawatha listening on port 80 (to specify, I had boinc working previously when my puppy linux didn't have hiawatha, but I reinstalled the os because my drive corrupted). Also, to specify, my remote host ports are working (the 3xxx ports and whatnot, I can connect with the manager both locally and remote on another computer on my router). It seems only port 80 isn't working (because of hiawatha I THINK).
Is there an option to change port 80 in boinc, or should I get gud and figure out how to use hiawatha on a different port?

Thanks anyway to anyone who looked at the post, but I fixed the problem sortof. Read on for the new *issue* I have now after fixing my connection.

So, I've been working all day debugging various ports and services using tcp, and I have concluded that nothing is actually interfering with my port 80. All my tasks still do not fetch, so I decided that maybe it was something wrong with the asteroidsathome communication (ie it's not my computer's fault). I decided to temporarily join a different project. With everything enabled that I thought might be the culprit, I updated the new project, and everything downloaded without any issues. So I guess, nothing was wrong in the end, sortof. I guess while we are still here, is it normal for there to be long periods of time where no tasks are downloaded? I have another computer running boinc for THIS project, and it's not having any trouble with tasks, just my linux server.

The server is out of tasks at the moment. Which means there probably isn't anything wrong with your use of port 80.

Almost all the projects have a Server Status page. When you can't get work check there. The Asteroids one is on the home page -> Server Status.

Its a good idea to have at least one other project, maybe more if you want a constant supply of work. You can also increase the cache that BOINC uses so you have plenty of work units on hand. Depending on how often your computer is running you might set it to say 1 or 2 days. In the BOINC manager that's the Options -> Computing preferences -> General tab, "store at least xx days of work" and the "store up to an additional xx days of work".

Ah, I realized that yesterday. Wish I had figured that out about 5 hours earlier than I did when I came to the conclusion. Could have saved me a bit of a headache lol.
