Yes there are no WU's available. But in prospective.... there are over 270,000 in progress. Bill F In October 1969 I took an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; There was no expiration date. |

Server status for Asteroids: Shows lots of workunits as of 21 MAR 19 9:19 am EST. However we still ade unable to down load any work units. We have been unable to access anything on Milkeway for a week. Several of us have switched to a working projects. Any suggestions on a project that would complement Asteroids? Later Lee |

Last modified: 28 Mar 2019, 17:47:16 UTC It was said in another thread that they had completed the server upgrade, and we should just be patient. I only just got back involved in this project after a few years of taking a break, so I don't know if they justfinished the upgrade, or if it has been done for a few days or weeks. The server status as of now says there are 210440 tasks that are in progress, so at the very least someone, somewhere is crunching, but every time I have checked it has said there are 0 tasks ready to send. I have noticed the numbers in the other fields change periodically, so I suppose something must be happening, but other than "WU's waiting for validation", I don't really know the significance of the other fields (WU's waiting for assimilation/file deletion, tasks waiting for file deletion, transitioner backlog) Also have noticed that the tasks in progress seems to change, but I couldn't say which direction for sure. I can see a couple of possible explanations. 1) There are so many people trying to get tasks all at once that the server cant prepare new ones fast enough to build up a surplus. In this case, it is sending out new work, just not fast enough to keep up with demand. I find this somewhat unlikely though. 2) Somewhat recently, a ton of work units were sent out, but none since then, and only the people who happen to have requested tasks at the right time got them. Either the same thing as above is happening, where it wasn't enough to satisfy demand, or some people managed to cheese the server into sending them 80+ tasks all at once, and they are slowly chewing through those. 3) The server released a test batch to make sure the new system was working properly, and they are waiting to send out the next batch until they get enough back to make sure everything is working correctly. 4) There is some problem with the server, and they haven't gotten it fixed yet 5) The server just doesn't have enough data to send out to analyze (unlikely) or it takes a long time to prepare new batches of work units or something. 6) something else entirely. TLDR: "When will we get new wu's?" ---------------------------------> no clue "Why are we not getting new wu's?" ---------------------------> no clue "Do you actually have any idea what you're talking about?" ---> not really |
