What I do not like is the lack of respect for the poeple spending their computer time for projects. I think we deserve a short explanation when the project is down for some reason. Sometimes I think we spend our computers for nothing, or at least noting important. And it is not only for the Asteroids@home project. |

An update from Kyong would be most useful, its been a week since the maintenance started, considering the maintenance was said to be for a few hours in the original post,i would have expected an update if it were going to be this long. I am running seti@home as my back up project , but they too are doing maintenance so only have a couple of W/U left before my computer is idle. I know Kyong runs this project on his own, but a little more in the way of updates would be most useful. Greatest respect to you Kyong, but we crunches only wish to be kept in the loop so we know whats happening with the project. Hobbies...Visual astronomy and astro imaging |

The server is still offline, not getting any new activities on my 5 hosts. Servers are not offline. Tasks are not available most likely because they have not been generated. So there are no new tasks to send at the moment (again). Despite of that, you computer might receive a re-sent task from some work unit because some other host somewhere has encountered a computation error or exceeded deadline until returning a result for that task. |

I am running seti@home as my back up project , but they too are doing maintenance so only have a couple of W/U left before my computer is idle. May I suggest that it would be more effective to use a backup project that doesn't also have substantial downtime? Or at least one additional backup project with the property of nearly always having work available? There's plenty of projects out there that have "5 9's" reliability, or close to it. |

Yes i can add yet another project, in fact i have just done so, however the point i was really making in my earlier post, is that more regular updates from Kyong would keep us better in the loop, its not much of an ask after all. Hobbies...Visual astronomy and astro imaging |

Last modified: 19 Dec 2017, 14:09:57 UTC Hi, and as again sorry for my late response. Server was down for a few hours as had been written and there were no problems during the maintenance so I didn't write anything here. Just WUs weren't ready to sent but that was normal. We don't have continual work due to lack of space on server so we can't have too big WU cache on server to have work all time. Well, the work could be ready a few days earlier but a script which was adding the work failed and I didn't check it. I will adjust it to sent me an e-mail if adding a work fails so that I am aware of that problem. But there was no problem with it before so that is the reason I hadn't checked that script. Also server should be now more swingly and browsing forum and profile page should be much better. I was adding a memory to server so now first server has 96 GB RAM and the other has 64 GB RAM. I just updated server_status.php with this information. |
