Error this applications in operating system "Windows XP-SP2 x64 Edition"
(Period Search Application v102.10 and 102.12 for sse2/sse3).

After each change in the design applications, they should be thoroughly tested ...

Good.

It is advisable to warn about the release of the corrected applications through BOINC notifications.
Until then, I have to suspend the execution of applications in this project.

Dear Ferdinand-QVC,

May I suggest you to check your computer for other issues, like overheating, memory errors, driver incompatibility, hard disk errors etc. It seams your troubles starts somewhere around the 24th of March and they actually affects Asteroids@home.
There was no any changes in applications your client uses neither in the system at that time.

Thanks.

Hello again.
I tried to identify the cause of the error, but to no avail ...

- checked the RAM and hard drive for errors;
- lowered the frequency of the CPU to reduce heat;
- rolled back the GPU driver to a more stable version (up to version 8.821.0.0 of January 26, 2011 for ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series on WinXP-SP2 x64);
- Reinstalled the BOINC client and restarted the project.

However, all this did not help: as before, tasks from the project give an error immediately after loading (even doesn't manage to calculate anything).

Hi Ferdinand-QVC,
Thank you for your patience and your feedback.

May I ask you to try again. We've made some changes in the project. This time everything should be OK.
You will need to do a "Reset project" from "Project" tab in "Boinc manager" first.
Then you may also need to do an "Update" one or two times.

Thanks,
Georgi

Good afternoon.
Applications were downloaded separately for WinXP (under sse3), while they work fine ...

After about 1-2 weeks I’ll inform about the test results, at the same time I will check the health of applications under sse2 on the old Pentium M processor
(as far as I remember, there were also errors in sse2 applications)

I looked the operation of the applications - on a computer with a 64-bit system, WinXP-SP2 are calculated without problems. The only thing is that the Boinc client remaining time indicator at the beginning of the calculation shows an overestimated value.

However, the applications "Period Search Application v102.13 (sse2_winxp)" refused to work on another computer with a Pentium M processor and WinXP-SP3 x32. After restarting the project, this version of the application no longer appeared there...

Hi Ferdinand-QVC,

Thank you for your feedback. It seams server has denoted that particular computer against newer version. It will receive older application that is already proven to work on it from now on.

Thanks.

Good afternoon.

The old problem with calculations by the "Period Search Application v102.13 (sse2_winxp)" in the WindowsXP-SP3 (x86) operating system on a computer with a Pentium M processor remains - immediately after the start of the calculation, it gives a calculation error, while the application file itself starts without problems.
https://asteroidsathome.net/boinc/result.php?resultid=347656770

I tried to fix it by attaching all jobs to the "Period Search Application v102.10 windows_intelx86" file using app_info.xml, but the calculations are bad - the job completion counter shows incorrect values, resetting to zero after 0.01%...

Hi,
My I ask you to try with the "period_search_10213_windows_intelx86__sse3_winxp.exe" while you're using app_config.xml setup. Your CPU supports the SSE3 extensions so should do fine with that. Just double check everything inside your app_config.xml according to the documentation first https://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/Client_configuration.

Thanks

As far as I know, the Pentium M (Dothan) processor supports the SSE2 instruction set, but it no longer supports SSE3, so using the new calculation application "period_search_10213_windows_intelx86__sse3_winxp.exe" will not work...
I don’t understand why the application for SSE2 incorrectly calculates, because the processor supports this instruction set. Moreover, recently the tasks were calculated on the older application "Period Search Application v102.10 windows_intelx86" (without any attach via "app_info.xml" file) and there were no problems...

The results of the failed calculate show (https://asteroidsathome.net/boinc/result.php?resultid=347656770):

Found the cause of the error - the server sends the wrong application for the calculation. In the properties of the application file "period_search_10213_windows_intelx86__sse2_winxp.exe", the original file name is listed as "Period_search_sse3.exe", i.e. the calculation file itself is named incorrectly, it is designed for processors with the SSE3 instruction, not SSE2...
Please fix sending files on job server.
