db_purge has been running the four different times I checked it today. The no WUs thing is not at all uncommon here. They likely won't have any for at least another day or two. Usually when the 'Tasks in Progress' drops below 75-80,000-ish, it will start back up. That's not any kind of math at all, just observation, so please only use it as a loose point of reference.... |

And 2 days later, still no work Work # Tasks ready to send 0 Tasks in progress 165071 Workunits waiting for validation 0 Workunits waiting for assimilation 2 Workunits waiting for file deletion 0 Tasks waiting for file deletion 0 Transitioner backlog (hours) 0.00 So, last week, and the week before, disk full, no uploads, & numerous tasks completed with no credit due to outages, and still no word from the project managers. So, taking my kit & my electric bill elsewhere. The lack of any update from anyone managing the project is the reason why. |

Hi everyone, I know it could be boring when there are gaps in time with no new tasks from the server to be send. In a perfect world we all would be happy to receive a constant flow of data to be processed. Unfortunately it is not the case. As it came many time to discussion the project first need to gather the raw data from several sources around the world. Then this data needs to be checked and prepared in order to get all those batches of millions of WU that are so precious to us. And all this takes time and there is no guaranties that it will happen with a constant flow. Just too many factors. Not to mention the resources (specialists, computation power, storage space, expenses etc. etc.) that are needed for running the whole project. And they are limited. Meanwhile there are number of other projects out there that one can switch to in order to contribute with computation power. BOINC system gives that functionality out of the box. Probably most of you are doing that way for many years. For the rest of you, who are not familiar how to do that here is some Documentation as well as lot of other materials and forum discussions available around the web. And last but not least I would like to thank you all for your patience! We all, the Asteroids@Home team, highly appreciate that. Regards, Georgi |

Last modified: 23 Sep 2020, 23:08:48 UTC Hi everyone, Georgi: Thank you for that response. It is much better than no response. At least users fell that somebody is paying attention to us. I am willing to remain patient as you requested, especially since I feel that somebody cares about us crunchers out here. But I still think you need to ask your university for some more help and resources. Steven Gaber Oldsmar, FL USA |
