Hi everyone.
I open this thread to accomodate a question by Jan Vaclavik.

Can't tell You wich projects can use the GPU You say (HD4250).

What I can tell You is that with ATI GPU, projects require a double precision GPU.
In this link You'll find out which of the ATI's GPU have double precision

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_ATI_graphics_processing_units

AFAIK, the projects best suited for ATI GPU are: Milkyway, Moo!wraper, Collatz and recently Poem (but with specific requirements and it's not, for me at least, easy to know how to do it).

Ups, I forgot.
Primegrid also allows ATI GPU's though this project is optimized for Nvidia GPU's.
Don't know if your HD4250 will be of use in primegrid

Enric, I am not positive, but I don't think the 4250 was OpenCL compliant. I remember that AMD had it listed in one of their CCC driver updates for support, but don't believe it truly works. So, you may have to stick with projects that code AMD/ATI apps with CAL instead. Last I knew, the 4350 was the first attempt at OpcenCL and it was only BETA support. Some projects work but some don't. Most don't bother getting the older cards supported.

Your list should also include these for AMD apps: SETI, SETI BETA, Albert, Einstein, WCG (at least until HCC ends), and Donate.

And NOT all AMD/ATI capable projects require dual precision.

One further note, AMD/ATI works better so far on all GPU projects that use OpenCL as their programming choice. nVidia is way behind on their OpenCL support and drivers. This may change in the future.

A long time ago in far Galaxy...sorry in PrimeGrid was opinion tu use Ati HD2XXX and HD3XXX graphic cards, but many projects (PrimeGrid too) change this, because of low power of this GPUs and problems with new versions of apps based on ATI api...

I guess I am stuck with Collatz. Those small ancient GPUs are producing some two thirds of my RAC - way more than the four CPU cores. I was kind of hoping to put them to some better use.
On a somewhat related note, I doubt there are many projects that use the new Intel OpenCL GPUs either. Somewhat shocking considering Intel is the largest GPU manufacturer on the PC market.

There are now several that use the Intel cpu/gpu cores, Collatz being one of them.

You can also add Seti, SEti-beta, Albert and Einstein to the Intel-GPU list.
