I am getting error "Failed to add project. Please try again later." in BOINC. I can login via the web-site and see my account just fine. Getting access to the data center where the server needs to be installed could be a problem depending on how severe local lockdowns (both govt and institutional) area. More speculative, but based on the number of problems this project's had in the past I don't think they have anyone who qualifies as an IT person supporting it, lack of setup needed to support remote admin (especially on the data recovery/etc side vs routine operations) wouldn't surprise me in the least. |

I am now getting the same "Failed to add project. Please try again later." message when trying to add a new PC to the project using the "Existing user" link. My machines that already had accounts are getting new work units and posting results just fine. I have logged into my account, no problem, but can't add a PC to the project. No need to join any new devices to this project, I think (as there is no communication yet) that they wait for all active units to complete and that most users report their "old" completed tasks to the server. Once this delay will be over, all "non reported" tasks will get back to the queue, and maybe a new batch of data will join it too (or they will wait until all "old" units are completed) Anyways, I did get around 4000 tasks reported, only 320 awaiting credits now (something like 1.500.000 credits so far). Also, no more units to be sent, so just wait for the certificate to be renewed and the project to be fully up and online, no need to hurry :) |

An expired certificate should have nothing to do with the server having gone down, I don't think. In any event, the server is apparently back up (WUs are running, one can access one's account -with difficulty since the certificate IS expired). Web browsers treat an expired certificate as a serious security problem. While there may be some cost to renewing a certificate, I'd guess it to be far less that buying a new server. I run BOINC on more than one machine. On the much more powerful one, I am not able to attach (re-attach) Asteroids@home. Yes, no new WUs for now... but I wonder WHEN anyone will get around to renewing the cert. LLP, PhD Prof. Engr.
