So when are we going to get a new status report on the project? Keeping your users up to date will keep the users from giving up on the project completely and also increase the amount of money contributed to fix the hardware issues.

It depends.

I have 12 tasks ready to report, all with a deadline of 2nd December. My task list shows them all as still being in progress, and all of the workunits show that the wingman task is waiting to be validated.

Getting credit for over deadline tasks depends on how quickly they are reported after the server programs are restarted. That will cause repair tasks to be generated for all of the over deadline tasks (according to the Server status page there are 514358 of them).

Over deadline tasks will only be ignored if they are returned after their repair task has been issued, returned and validated. Over deadline tasks reported before their workunit has been validated will be credited (as will any repair tasks which are returned before their deadline).

This sort of default behavior can be overridden by the server admins. Turning on the WU receive functions but not the part of the server that issues WUs for a few days would be the simplest option; but things like manually awarding credit for all tasks from a few months ago failed as late are possible as well.

I don't see how a hardware issue can be repaired remotely, and as the law stands today, I doubt the poor admins will be able to do anything until at least the 15th Jan, and quite possibly later depending on what the Government there decides. It's not like they can honestly claim they are a "public" or "spiritual" service, and that's if they can claim it to be work as opposed to academic.

Spare a thought for those confined, maybe to a greater extent that you are.

It does seem like the project is up.

Though it does not seem the validators are running?

It would be nice with an official statement as to if everything is running as it should.

I am getting some of my tasks validated.

Some kind of information about the project from the admins would be nice.

Why is asteroids@home no longer listed on BOINC. I tried to add to my new computer and it wasn't list.

Why is asteroids@home no longer listed on BOINC. I tried to add to my new computer and it wasn't list.

Project was OFFLINE and INACTIVE for over a year.
When the maintainers of BOINC software code went to verify project status before code updating it was not to be found on the internet so it was deleted from BOINC's ACTIVE project list.

In boinc manager add project window just put in "https://asteroidsathome.net/boinc" instead of the other urls showing up, worked fine for me :-)

I think that list is manually updated, you'll have to ask over in the Boinc forums and someone will tell the big guy in charge (David Anderson).

Project was re-added to the official BOINC list in last day or two.

How do you get Boinc to reload the list to see it? I'm using Win11 Home on this pc with Boinc ver 7.20.0 and it isn't on the list for me?

Also those of us with Win7 pc's are out of luck due to an SSL error, this is not the only project that has moved on from the older pc's and I don't blame them I'm just commenting

What kind of SSL ERROR?

I have 2 Windows 7 PC'S currently attached and receiving and sending completed / valid work back.
As for the Project list, I believe you will have to manually download it (maybe from the boinc.berkeley.edu site???) then copy/paste into the BOINCData folder.

BOINC is supposed to check and automatically download a new list periodically but I have never had it work in the 20+ years on BOINC.
