Hi everyone, A new, 64bit, version of the Period search application for the Raspberry Pi was released today supporting aarch64 (armv8) architecture! It will be interesting to get some feedback from you about how it performs as there still could be some issues to be solved. Happy crunching and don't forget to use active cooling on your boards as the app can be very aggressive to the cores on times. Cheers! Another great news from this project, thanks you! I just started two tasks on my RPi 4B with active cooling. BOINC Manager reports around 7.5% per hour, and temps seem to hover around 49C. my blog about raspberry pis and astrophotography |

However, I will test the application this weekend on a Raspberry Pi 4B running Debian 11 (glibc 2.31) and report my observations. The application requires at least glibc 2.29. Unfortunately I have to leave most of my boards on Debian 10 (glibc 2.28) for some reasons. However, I will test the application this weekend on a Raspberry Pi 4B running Debian 11 (glibc 2.31) and report my observations. Hi Spectrum, Are these host of yours an Odroid N2+ boards, which are running Debian 10 Buster? If so, just to confirm are the equipped with Amlogic S922X Cortex A73+A53 Hexa-Core, which is aarch64 (armv8) architecture? We will add support for that OS in short time. Last modified: 22 Dec 2022, 11:16:28 UTC I downloaded a Asteroids WU on my Rock Pi 4B+ as it has the most elaborate cooling (80mm + 40mm fan plus very big heatsink combo) and it has announced a zeven-day computation period with ten-day deadline. After a very short time the app aborted, and this error appeared in the log: Error: Number of lc points is greater than POINTS_MAX = 1000 |

Last modified: 22 Dec 2022, 11:21:00 UTC Yes, I see that my Jetson SoC's aren't going to be able to run the project. Still stuck on glibc 2.27 because of the distro. You might want to switch to Armbian as OS on the Jetsons, they offer a much more recent version of Linux with a far later version of glibc. Alternatively, you can sell the Jetsons and buy new Orins in a few months. Note: When you upgrade your Jetsons to Ubuntu 20.04 you will be rewarded with glibc 2.31 |

I haven't so far as the custom Einstein gpu app doesn't run on anything but the 18.04 distro. I don't have the source code to recompile it under 20.04. [Edit] Hmmm, your link mentions maintaining gcc-8 compatibility as that is what the custom Einstein gpu app needs. But that is a lot of work to do the upgrade. Will have to think about it. I'll try to test it on my Jetson Nano with Ubuntu 20.04 for you! So far it is running two Asteroids WUs at the same time, along with its usual WEP-M+2 work. Second Asteroids WU goes a lot quicker, 77.316% in a mere 1: 20hr before it was paused. Update: Yes, I managed to download Einstein WUs too, and one is running. Should be ready in about 2:40 hours, but I'm off to bed now: 03:54 local time. |
