I'm new to Asteroids@home but not necessarily new to BOINC. Roughly 50% of my tasks are erroring out with "Error: Number of lc points is greater than POINTS_MAX = 1000"

I see this on both my M1 Macbook Air and my (ancient) i5 iMac. I haven't seen it yet on my i5 Windows laptop, but I just started crunching Asteroids on it the other day.

Any ideas on solutions or further troubleshooting would be appreciated!

Not exactly the same issue as OP but I feel something is going on.

I am using a nvidia GPU. This morning I found the GPU task was stuck at low percentage but has ran for over 24 hours. I aborted the task, restarted BOINC client (and stopping computation). All Period Search GPU task still progress VERY slowly (0.09% in 30 minutes). I suspended all of them and moved on to other project's GPU tasks for the time being.

I and getting a "Computation Error" on all my recently downloaded tasks as soon as they start to be processed. I am running BOINC on a M1 Apple Silicon iMax using MacOS 13.4.1, with BOINC Manger 7.22.2 and wxWidgets 3.2.2.

Your computation error looks to be the same as mine. I dug down into the latest one reported by your machine and it shows the same text in the stderr output.
Look at the list of your tasks, then filter for errors, then select the task number on the left, and you'll see the "detailed" error info at the bottom.

Bump. This is for lots (if not all) Mac OS systems on this project. When I scroll through the list of top contributing systems, all the Mac models are showing this same error for about 1/2 of the CPU tasks.

I dug a bit deeper, and these lc > 1000 errors have been reported before, back in March 2020, but for Windows. Per Georgi Vidinski https://asteroidsathome.net/boinc/show_user.php?userid=372356 in this message,
https://asteroidsathome.net/boinc/forum_thread.php?id=788&postid=6507

In first case, where WU have been reported with the following error:
* Error: Number of lc points is greater than POINTS_MAX = 1000
This is due to slightly different structure inside the newly generated WUs after new sources of data were added in the last months. We already started procedure of applying a bugfix for it. SSE2 applications are next in the list.

A later message says:

As of yesterday almost all CPU related Windows x64 Period search applications has been updated with applied bugfix about the 'MAX_POINTS' issue, except the 'sse2' application.
