I agree. Although Kyong is very busy it would be nice to get an update about the science at least once a year.

Do not make the same mistake as UFluids@home, guys.....

New to this so could somebody explain what credits are for please? Thank you.

Hello Wayne,

some BOINC projects - like this one - give away badges or similar things as an appreciation for its contributors. You can find the badges for Asteriod@home here:

Greetings,

We always know when there is no work so you don't have to write it everytime. I always know it before checking forum.

I guess the reason why we always write about it is that sometimes in the past the queue dried up for several days without any notice from the project, so people naturally assumed you didn't know about it. Anyway, that's good to know and I think we all appreciate that.

BTW, you maybe should post that on the front page so more people can read it.

Have a nice weekend!

Current drought already mentioned under "Problems and bug reports".

Come on people, check things out first before posting issues somewhere....

Since the server tends to run out of work every month we could be even more efficient by reusing old threads to report about the frequent problem: "Queue is dry, out of WUs" ;)

Ok...
Although I think it would be more effective to open new threads to point to a new problem.

Looks as if there's another server glitch, no work is being generated, getting no work available log messages..

Guess something needs a bit of a push:-)

OK, but why do you put this under the "mail server" topic and not under "Problems and bug reports"?

Guys,

a News thread is not the right place for reporting problems and bugs, moreover as there is a thread for the upload problem already existing:

As most of us know, Radim (Kyong) has not so much time for this project as he is very busy.

But is it really that big of a prob to have completed WUs in the queue? There as plenty of other projects you can give your computing time to which serve real useful causes, for example the World Community Gird (WCG). Just pick yourself.

So take it easy guys.... and yes, I have some WUs ready for upload too.

So the queue is full again, see people, no need to panic..... ;)

Today is Friday December 18 2015, The server is running out of work units. A large deposit of work units could save many of us or some of us will have to find other work to complete as the server is showing;

No offense, but there are LOTS of other projects which have LOTS of work and are very grateful for crunchers. You can make a difference if crunching against diseases for example. I personally recommend the World Community Grid and MalariaControl, but please choose yourself.

I have moved to POGS. It is not only the lack of work but the lack of communication that is most irritating. One would think that unless the entire project team is intensive care at hospital, someone from the project could post a short informational note here.

I am crunching for POGS too. They too do have dry times which can be for weeks. It is not that huge difference.
In fact, I think we all should keep our demands low because not all projects run smoothly, and that for different reasons.

Oh well, Happy Holidays to all the Asteroids crunchers! Cheers.

Same to you & all other crunchers, especially to you KYONG, your team & your family. God & Jesus bless.

I just found today that the pipeline has run completely dry, no more WUs are in queue. Please take a look into that. Thanks.

AND YES, I started this thread on purpose, because IMHO this is where problems belong, not added to a news thread.

The server status page still shows only one host.
Just a little reminder, I know you are busy.

Have a nice day Radim!

There is going to be a bigger maintenance on 12.05.2015. It should start at 06:00 UTC and it will take propably 24 hours. New workunits will be added after the maintenance.

Radim VanĨo (FoxKyong)

Seems that all worked out fine. Excellent job! :D

BTW, I hope your personal problems have been solved or are at least less burdensome now. Head up man!

This can pretty much be negated by changing the setting in the Boinc Manager on how often the 'checkpoints to disk' write to the disk, from the default of 60 seconds to 900 seconds or 15 minutes. With enough ram the disk is not used for the actual crunching, just the pre, post and checkpointing stuff.

Is that possible yet? I have set this to 180 seconds for years now because I tried a few years ago and higher values didn't work. Did the BOINC devs fix that issue? Would be great news.
