Has the fixed credit been stopped and is CreditNew (now quite old actually) now in place, credit varies a lot for every work unit.

Thanks

Other than that guess I don't know.

I know this is a very old thread (4 years), but as there are now nearly 60 people that have reached 100 Million points and 4 that have passed 1,000 Million points, is there any thoughts on granting larger badges past 100 Million ?

It is not yet in my reach but for others it is (the number one cruncher is in a league of his own with over 6,000 Million points).

You would have a much better idea of the elements that could be awarded, as I have very little as I wrote over 4 years ago there is very little information.

thanks

Hi Folks,
I'm trying to get an app_config to work but keep getting errors:-/

<app_config>
<app>
<name>period_search_10200_ windows_x86_64_cuda55.exe</name>
<user_friendly_name>Period_Search_Application_102.00_(cuda55)</name>
</app>
<max_concurrent>2</max_concurrent>
<gpu_versions>
<gpu_usage>.5</gpu_usage>
<cpu_usage>.04</cpu_usage>
</gpu_versions>

Boinc doesnt see the ending </app> for some reason any ideas?

I am not big on this stuff but don't you need </app_config> at the end of your listing to complete the file?

I have about 1400 tasks on two computers Cancelled by Server, possibly a result of the recent server downtime. I think I understand why. So how do I get them do disappear from the tasks in my BOINC client? The only option showing for these tasks is to Suspend, which makes no sense. If I Suspend the only option is Resume. They appear to be taking up space on my computer (in the projects directory) which is why I'd like to get rid of them.

When the server comes back up they will go by themselves.

I do not say that TrendMicro is the worst, there are many other (McAfee, Comodo, Norton, Kaspersky):

I often see TrendMicro-HouseCall and McAfee-GW-Edition in the VirusTotal results:

Well that is all news to me, have not struck any of this.
I use the Platinum version, perhaps that may be the reason.
It has more of an overhead than normal version, perhaps doing a bit more work.
I needed to do a small bit of extra work to set it up the way I wanted it to run, but now it is running fine.

Each to their own I suppose.

Dear BilBg,

I use TrendMicro and do not have any problems with false positives on any BOINC projects.

I used to use McAfee but it is not as good as it once was and is resource hungry.

I would prefer if you bombed me with money so I can pay the electricity bill.

Bombing me with false positives I haven't heard of (even from the company), or encountered (the problem you claim in your last sentence), will serve no purpose.

Asteroids runs fine for me.

Thanks for that Kyong.

I actually have 3 Inconclusive work units and they are all "ps_140304_79185_" types, so it seems it is this work unit type that is faulty.

What is wrong with this Work Unit?

Yep, you can add me to the list as well. Over 60 failed downloads now and climbing. Only have about 20 work units left to run and not getting replacements.

On one of my Windows 32 bit computers all work units are failing on Download.

I keep getting an Error that the File has the Wrong Size and also a Checksum or Signature Error.

The Work unit reports that it "Couldn't get Input Files".

So the work unit downloads then fails with the above message.

I have reset twice to no avail.

I have detached and re-attached twice also to no avail, still does not work.

See Here and Here

Strange thing is my other computers can download and process a work unit with no trouble.

Conan

EDIT:: Don't worry about this. I started to also have the same error on another project (Convector) as well so I closed and restarted BOINC and now all working OK.
Seems to have been some corrupted files in BOINC.

Hi There,
Is asteroids@home currently active? ..... I just signed up but it Does Not appear on my List Of Projects in the Projects Tab on my BOINC Manager.

Not all projects appear in this list, in fact a good deal of them don't.
You just have to manually type in the URL in the space provided and proceed from there.
I do it all the time as most newer projects do not appear on this list.

G'Day Kyong,

I was wondering about 2 more badges at 25 Million and 75 Million, due to the very large gaps between 10M to 50M and 50M to 100M.

I have been unable to find on the net any straight forward listing about elemental abundances in Asteroids.
I have a suggestion for my proposed 25M badge, either Magnesium(Mg) or Calcium(Ca).
For my proposed 75M badge either Tungsten(W) or Platinum(Pt).
Another suggestion is 25M = Tungsten(W) and 75M = Platinum(Pt)

Just a thought, it wont hurt anyone at the moment as no one has that many credits, so could be easily adjusted.

Did you try to stop the client and start again?

Yes I did but it did not change work unit behaviour.

I had noticed the problem when it had run for 12 hours when other work units were taking around 3 to 4 hours.
I let it run to see if it would finish as I thought it was like the work that was released many months ago that ran for 12 to 24 hours but when progress had not moved for a number of hours I decided to kill it.

I aborted this work unit as it had been running for a full day (24 hours) and had only just got to 54.5% with 17 hours still to go. It hadn't moved for a while and as most work units only take half this time I killed it.
