Post: Why should we update BOINC when the old certificate (as of the 17th September 2025) worked fine with the BOINC versions I already have. Can't that certificate be added back in? Then all would be fine as it was before It is not going to be easy for me to upgrade the Berkeley installed versions I have. I like the way it is installed (with the Berkeley installer), I don't like the distribution installed versions as they stick stuff everywhere and I lose direct control over the way things are installed and looked after. Post: No change here, still can't contact servers, Transient HTTP error and certificate problems on 4 of my Linux machines. One does work as it has a different Boinc Client version it all worked up till the 17th of September then stopped. Conan |

Post: On my Fedora Linux computers 7.20.2 works but 7.17.0 does not. Still says certificate problem. Can't easily change the older version as it uses the Berkeley SH install setup and this is not updated anymore, those computers also use an older version of Fedora. The one working has a newer Fedora version and I was forced to use the distribution install as I could not get the Berkeley installed version to work as I could not find the widget dependencies and after 2 days gave up. So my push to get Asteroids to 10 Million + points is stalling before it gets going. Well back to Gaia when it starts again. Conan |

Post: I know this is a very old thread (4 years), but as there are now nearly 60 people that have reached 100 Million points and 4 that have passed 1,000 Million points, is there any thoughts on granting larger badges past 100 Million ? It is not yet in my reach but for others it is (the number one cruncher is in a league of his own with over 6,000 Million points). You would have a much better idea of the elements that could be awarded, as I have very little as I wrote over 4 years ago there is very little information. thanks Conan |

Post: I have about 1400 tasks on two computers Cancelled by Server, possibly a result of the recent server downtime. I think I understand why. So how do I get them do disappear from the tasks in my BOINC client? The only option showing for these tasks is to Suspend, which makes no sense. If I Suspend the only option is Resume. They appear to be taking up space on my computer (in the projects directory) which is why I'd like to get rid of them. When the server comes back up they will go by themselves. Conan |

I use the Platinum version, perhaps that may be the reason. It has more of an overhead than normal version, perhaps doing a bit more work. I needed to do a small bit of extra work to set it up the way I wanted it to run, but now it is running fine. Each to their own I suppose. Conan |

I would prefer if you bombed me with money so I can pay the electricity bill. Bombing me with false positives I haven't heard of (even from the company), or encountered (the problem you claim in your last sentence), will serve no purpose. Asteroids runs fine for me. Conan |

Post: On one of my Windows 32 bit computers all work units are failing on Download. I keep getting an Error that the File has the Wrong Size and also a Checksum or Signature Error. The Work unit reports that it "Couldn't get Input Files". So the work unit downloads then fails with the above message. I have reset twice to no avail. I have detached and re-attached twice also to no avail, still does not work. See Here and Here Strange thing is my other computers can download and process a work unit with no trouble. Conan EDIT:: Don't worry about this. I started to also have the same error on another project (Convector) as well so I closed and restarted BOINC and now all working OK. Seems to have been some corrupted files in BOINC. |
