I accept a view of the early Web as something like a mythology, adopting a lens like

philosophical foundation for projects like IndieWeb. Following this
historical review, I introduce the landscape of efforts
to build decentralized alternatives to centralized
Web platforms. Finally, I present an overview of the IndieWeb, including key technical standards and structures, its community, and its relationship to the Web more broadly.
