Both are geographically separate from most of England -- Bournemouth on the southern coast, Carlisle in the far north -- and, till lately, both competed far from the spotlight. As recently as 2010, Bournemouth played in League Two and didn't taste the highest flight until 2015. Also on the agenda is building a youth growth system, one prepared to train right now's younger fans into tomorrow's pros. Because of Carlisle's location, the membership might probably appeal to promising prospects from not solely northern England but additionally Scotland. In 1794 Carlisle served because the staging space for federal troops during the Whiskey Rebellion. It was linked (1837) with Chambersburg by the Cumberland Valley Railroad. Carlisle was a significant station on the Underground Railroad prior to the American Civil War. During the war it was briefly occupied (June 27–30, 1863) by Confederate troops who bombarded it (July 1) as they left for the Battle of Gettysburg.
