a bit to get some engagement, then release the clutch.
But then I noticed that the wiring looked like
it wasn't original anyhow but had been cobbled together to operate the non-Hastings
tube - the PCB looks like it was actually designed for a Hastings-type tube with an AC heater but none of the
parts were ever installed. We have parts for washing machines,

microwave ovens, ranges, air conditioners, freezers, cooktops, garbage
disposals, humidifiers and most other major appliances.

I acquired this analog controller supposedly with matching sensor for under $25.
Rc and Rd should be selected based on the internal resistance of the TC sensor (e.g.,
11/2 ohms each for the DV-4D) to provide the proper load for the heater drive signal, which can then be monitored across TP2 and TP3.
The sensor (visible in the photo) turned out to be a Hastings DV-4AM which has a very different calibration curve than what was on the meter face.
That appeared to match up quite closely with the meter face for the Hastings VT-6 using the DV-6 TC gauge tube (though I later discovered that it diverged somewhat at
pressures above about 100 mT). A quick tweak to the zero adjust
to match up with the atm mark on the meter face and presto!
Once calibrated for a specific readout or controller unit (or units), the readings should be consistent and enable
a quick test should behavior of that unit change for unknown reasons.

reduce the heater current in this low voltage circuit resulting in an incorrect setting (5 or 10
percent too high).
